LEL - Night before plans
« on: 23 December, 2008, 12:04:03 pm »
What are people doing on the Saturday night?
I'm guessing that most of the 8am starters will register at 1700 Sat, then head back to tents/bivouacs/cars for an early night.

(No doubt some will register at 7am - you wouldn't catch me doing that ... )

Are the foreigners all staying in one/two places?

I've registered for the overnight stay at the YH. So it will be get the bike sorted, register, eat well. Try to reat and go to sleep at the correct time.

Very boring really.

I guess the main topic of conversation will be the ride.

I will be avoiding beer and spicy food at all costs.

Currently holed up in Travelimbo but might go find a campsite instead. I suspect getting a good nights sleep will be a challenge either way.

Many of the foreign riders have not yet arranged any accomodation.  Locals providing ore info on affordable accomodation near the start or a couple of railwaystations down the line would be very helpful.

I'm sure Hummers' preparation involves root vegetables, not necessarily to be taken orally.

I'm booked into the Travelodge. 17:00 registration, go off and find some food, spend the night tossing and turning, then turn up to the start feeling hungry, tired and grumpy.

Beer is the answer.

Sorry. 2pm start also means you can travel down sat, registar.Drink some beer, only to combat nerves,(you understand).Recover from beer by start time then ride up to Scotishland (stoping for a pint at Denton )and back again.Simple.

I have rectified the lack of Travelodge booking.

Tis family room, applications for sharing to be considered.  Two places are available.  I'll run a reserve list once it's full.

Never fear Mr Mayor.  your duties are being allocated as we speak.  They will involve lots of pain and  orders.......and a bit of cycling.

And should anyone spot me without a beer in my hand between the hours of 9pm and 11pm, sympathy  MUST be given.  'Cos it means something has happened and requires sorting so I won't be able to drink........

The bar at the Youth Hostel is open  and there are pubs down the road.  The Youth Hostel bar will close at 11pm to allow everyone to get a good nights kip.

People will be around en bloc from around 1:30pm - final registartion is at 7pm  - you will ge tyour timings with your route sheets in May.

Route sheets in May - that means I have about eight weeks to work out (get obssesive) about my times between controls.

I'm starting to get all stressed about this already - Oh no I can feel OCD comming on.
