What camping knife?

I've got a Leatherman Skeletool and it is the love of my life (especially since a loo lock jammed and I had to dismantle it with the tool to escape!).  But what I can't happily do with the knife blade is the ugly things you can do with a pure knife: prying, twisting, that sort of thing.  It's also rubbish for spreading butter, and I end up with cheese in the pliers and bacon in the bitholder if I use it as a do-everything camping knife.

So, what rigid all-purpose cheapish knife would the massive recommend?  Is there any reason to go any more bling than the Frost Mora?

Zoidburg:
The Mora is simple enough but I prefer a handguard or thumb rest on the knife

I have a Helle Safari and thats laminated carbon/stainless, its also as sharp as a straight razor, larger than a Mora but not by my much. - Helle Safari --- Heinnie Haynes - Knives, Pocket Tools and Accessories

Another knife that has taken my fancy recently is the SOG Field Pup(edit)

If you want a cheap fixed blade then the Cold Steel Roach Belly might fit the bill.  The Mora was good but I wasn't especially fond of it for food prep. I prefer a 4" Opinel for that, although I'v also used one of the larger SAK's(till I had to dump it at Geneva airport  >:( )

IMO, you don't need anything with a 4" blade and as I no longer think it wise to be out with a fixed or locking blade I use a Spyderco UK. They are mentioned on a thread in reviews: Spyderco UKPK
It spreads butter, is long enough to joint a rabbit or strip the breast meat out of road kill, and keeps a very sharp edge

I disagree

What ever the knife you can still be done for being in possesion of a bladed article so if you are going to run the risk then you may as well carry a blade that you want to use.

A fixed blade of 5" is perfectly legal to carry on a camping trip.

Every time you budge an inch for the daily mail moral panic brigade - they will take away another freedom from you.
