FixedWheelnut down!
« on: 23 November, 2009, 09:42:44 pm »
Just got a text from Fixedwheelnut. He is in Lewisham A&E with a compound fracture to his hand after hitting a car head on at 20mph!

Just thought you ought to know.
This isn't just a thousand to one shot. This is a professional blood sport. It can happen to you. And it can happen again.

I bet he simply forgot to pedal and he made up the car to cover his blushes  ;)

It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Oh, flip flop.  :( Thank goodness it's his hand and not his head.

Absolutely.  At least because of the damage a well-aimed wheelnut skull could do to a passing vehicle  ;)

He's a fixie rider, he only needs one.  But it'll feel weird if it's the wrong one.

Chicks dig scars.

GWS. Hope it doesn't keep you off the bike off work for too long, what on earth will BMW owners do for expert mechanicing while you're laid up?

Sorry to hear this FWN.  Hope it's not too expensive on the bike, body or sole.

Here's another manly hug from Greg.  ;D

Fixedwheelnut down but not out, [staying in and resting]

Nipping home from Crystal Palace sports center just at the bottom of Sydenham High street, spinning along about 20mph a car just turned in front of me from the opposite lane. I had about fifteen to ten feet to rapidly think "oh F&*k this is gonna hurt and unclip my feet to minimalise leg damage.
I hit the left wing, 'A' post and screen. Flew over the bonnet for tuck and roll it was when I pushed myself up and saw my left ring finger sticking up at 90 degrees I thought oops that ain't right.
Pulling my glove off straightened it a bit and revealed the bone sticking out  :-X

Driver was as shaken as me and called ambulance, police attended as well and took statements, his car looked as bad as my hand

Surprisingly not much pain but legs have stiffened right up as they bore the brunt of the impact with the wing and the screen.

Palmares  ;D cuts to legs and hands, bruised index knuckle right hand, five stitches to deep chin laceration, and a dislocated left ring finger with bone protrusion :o

photos? why of course sir

other pics are with that on flickr, click the pic

I have to go to St Thomases tomorrow early about 8am to see plastic surgeon about possible nerve damage in finger

Worst of all my Ron Cooper is fooked, short wheelbase bent forks, top and down tube :'( :'(
