Can anyone recommend a simple addon/plugin/thingy for Twitter? I have XP + Firefox13.0.1


(The web interface has just got too slow-n-heavy for me, and the mobile version is just painful on Firefox.

I really liked Echofon, but then it stopped working. This was probably a year ago.)

Does it have to be in Firefox?  TweetDeck is quick, and simple if you put it in single-column mode.

Echofon is so good I paid for the proper version. Very few of my apps are paid for. The rest are all free.

Well my wife's W7 OS, Facebook Account have just presented her with another lovely Virus ::-) She only uses Facebook so I guess that is where the virus came from

Certainly not my idea of security. AVG is installed fortunately and has caught quite a few of those nasties during this year :demon:

It has nothing to do with Twitter and probably nothing to do with facebook.

Marbox, if she 'uses' facebook, then she's using a browser, the internet, etc. Are you seriously saying she doesn't use email? 

The problem with facebook isn't facebook, it is the third-partly applications. Opt to install one and you've just granted access to install stuff on your system. If you aren't cautious about the apps you install, you may end up installing one that carries a trojan.

No, she never sends e-mails and doesn't open any attachments without checking.Yes, she has AVG and Zone Alarm installed which I have found to be very  reliable over many years of use until I realized Linux was better :thumbsup:

It's definitely the stuff she does on Facebook principally playing games and such like. I don't recall mentioning Twitter :hand:

And I think it is well known I 'm not comfortable with this social networtking craze.

You don't have to open an attachment to click on a link embedded in an email.

Echofon works for me. I use the Firefox plugin at work, the desktop app at home and the iPhone app on my iPhone. They all sync quite nicely and support multiple accounts.

The Firefox plugin did stop working for a while but I deleted it and reinstalled it and it was fine after that.

Osfoora is also popular but I've never tried it. (Mainly because there isn't a free version, though like Valiant I upgraded to the paid version of Echofon - functionally identical but without the ads.)

If you want a social media aggregator (ie Facebook as well), Boxcar is good, though I've had problems with the Boxcar iPhone app lately.

Similar error to before: Could not authenticate with OAuth. I can't be bothered with any dicking about (this is Twitter for Morons, remember), might try TweetDeck ...

Could be a problem with permissions in Twitter rather than the app?

Anyway, Tweetdeck is also fine. I prefer the Echofon UI but that's not much help if it's not working for you...
