Dimensions of Topeak BarXtender

I have three of these.  I use one on the TCR and one on the Monsta Thorn to hold my lights.  The advantage in using them this way is the lights are positioned in a protected area so if someone knocks my bike they are not damaged.  Nor would they hit the ground if the bike fell over etc. ( heaven forbid  :-X )

When I had my tri-bars on the TCR I used this extra one from the stem upwards to store the GPS.

I measured the same two distances for the Minoura Swinggrip. First one on the Swinggrip is 17cm, second one 13cm. That makes the BarXtender somewhat smaller, more in the league of the standard Minoura extension. Hence not long enough for those who wish to combine it with a medium/large size barbag.

That is a shame.  It really is made so much better.

To get more accessories on the bar, the horizontal dimension could be increased by replacing the tube with a longer piece of aluminium or PVC tube with a slot made in it.

I've done this with Minoura SpaceGrips.
