I've always fancied the "succulent" ones that you see growing as little mini-bonsai-tastic trees in Chinese takeaways. Never found out the name but let me know how you get on if you try them and what they're called!
Don't know what sort chicks would dig, have you tried them out in the hen-coop yet?
