The riders they're following don't seem to be carrying any luggage at all. Not even seatpacks!

I think it's the Things coming through at about 5.27 - the Audax England jerseys give it away :-)

This one has been discussed to death by the rubans blancs. Fast forward (to prevent seasickness) to 2:10 to see how to save time on PBP.

And at 2:36 that is the YACF Cheese & Wine party on the knoll with me, chillmoister, hummers, and co (next to the trike)

I'll add the video I took on my final approach to the finish line.  The keen-eyed will see Exit Stage Left, Chillmoister & Keeks

Yes - this was the start of the tandem express train that pulled me to Mortagne at 20mph... I'm in the flat cap just behind the Things. Colin and Sonya are the team in front.

Ha, I was already 8 seconds ahead of you there! I'm the first one in that group/scene.

A longish (44 min) French film on vimeo. Concentrates on those at the back of the field. Includes footage of Drew trying to get his back wheel back on after repairing a puncture. Interspersed with other brief cycling footage from cycling films. Occasional mistranslations in the subtitles (eg 'two [SR] series' becomes 'trop sérieux'). Plenty of AUK-spotting opportunities.

I remember the shopkeeper in St Remy du Val (and the interview). While the interview was going on (and on), I was waiting to pay her for the snack I was buying.

There are some painful-to-watch scenes towards the end, eg the Shermer's neck sequence, the 'leaning' rider, the rider scooting in the darkness before eventually getting off to walk  And there's one sequence I'm not sure I've interpreted correctly, but hope I have. It appears to be
- rider on hill clearly struggling, stops to stretch, with a couple of other riders coming up the hill behind him
- rider eventually remounts, wobbling across the road seemingly struggling to clip in
- rider starts to freewheel down the hill ie in the wrong direction.  Has he decided the struggle is not worth it and is returning to a control to pack?
- after a few yards of freewheeling he wheels round and starts pedalling up again.  Has he 'screwed his courage to the sticking place', as it were, to give it another go?

No, a lot more simple and mundane. He goes downhill first to change to a lower gear, makes a U-Turn and resumes climbing the hill in the right direction and the right gear.

superb! Very evocative and nice to see the focus on the back end rather than the vedettes.  I love Drew's Line: It's my sixth PBP and I always ride it on a silly bike, as well as the cut to Monty Python after the shot of him repairing a flat.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

That's a truly moving piece of film imho and reflects more closely my observations of it all. It is a phenomenally tough adventure for some riders, a real personal test. I think the film captures the pain and discomfort, not to mention the sheer fatigue. Somehow, for me, it captures another side of the event - not about winning, or getting the best possible time, but about completing.

I've just been given the heads up on this video.

It is I @ 12 mins. Footage taken about 40km from finish. I was just starting to think I could actually finish within the 90h.

Great to see the Bicycle Repair Man sketch again. Many years since I last saw it.
