I'm thinking about this ride now. I'm on the Nippie Sweetie a month earlier and will make a decision when I've completed that.

Cap'n Zep, If you want a lift back home after the event I will be going home via Glasgow. I hope you are prepared to wait.

That would be very kind of you, from previous experience, you will be back loooong before me, it will be you that's getting the pleasure of Robert's company waiting on me.

Just to confirm the hall is now reserved, the only issues is that there is a meeting in the hall on the Friday evening (the AA - no not Audax Anonymous althogh some may feel the need to attend) and the main hall will not be available until 10pm.

Hi Roberto

I'm planning of making my way north for this, but just wanted to check - is the hall booked on Saturday night for the ride on Sunday, or am I missing something?

Cheers,

Hi Cygnet
I have not got round to updating the event on the AUK website but just to confirm that the hall will be available for sleeping on the Saturday night (BYO sleeping gear). I plan to charge £5 for the use of the hall on the Saturday night and this will also include a light breakfast for Sunday morning.
If you wish to take up the option of the hall let me know.

Cheers
Roberto

Thanks Roberto,
I just need to confirm some logistics, and then will send an entry/need for hall.

Weather forecast yesterday was looking decidedly horrendous! It's much improved today though!  Must stop looking at long range forecasts!

I'll be there.

Btw, I spent my lunchbreak plotting the route http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=385831
Perhaps someone finds it useful. No guarantee it's correct though.

Not sure you got the intended route after the info control at Ardlamont. Here's the route I mapped based on my Garmin stats from last years ride. Six and 2 threes I guess.

about 90 metres less climbing skook94's way, and the same route I plotted from Roberto's route-sheet.

Hell, you are right. Sorry for that and thanks for telling me.

I have hired a car and am driving over tomorrow morning from Linlithgow along the M9/M80/M8. I can take one more rider/bike if somebody along the route needs a lift.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

See you all tomorrow,

Tobias

A hard, hilly and fast (for me) 200k, good company throughout though and good weather into the bargain. Cheers Roberto

First audax of the year with no rain (or snow!) for which I am truly grateful, and somewhat in awe of Roberto's "connections". Blue skies, full sunshine and mostly helpful winds made for a pretty fast run round a route which was very scenic in both senses of the word. Great to meet up with Sam from the Dulwich Paragon, who I met on PBP last August. Good company all day, as well as Sam I rode with Cyclops, Tinez and OtherDave pretty much all the time but also met up with CaptainZep, GlasgowJim, Bodach, Maverick, Salar55 and several others. It's funny how on some rides you get into a little group and don't see anyone else all day, whereas on days like today folk seemed to pass us or be caught by us several times.

Great to do an audax I'd not done before, perhaps we need more west coast events?

Great day out - I've just had a shower and appear to have sunburnt legs.

The fact we covered the first 100km in 4 hours should have alerted us that things were about to get a whole lot harder and they did. Dragging yourself to the top of every climb however was rewarded by one cracking view after another.

Many thanks Roberto for a great event and brilliant weather.
It didn't look at all like that in the photographs

Awesome day today, I absolutely love that route (well, the last 125km anyway!) I've even started to forget that headwind in the last 10k to Dunoon. Many thanks Roberto, to you and your family for the sterling efforts today.

Brilliant day on a really nice route.

I had problems with my car meaning I was just leaving the car park as the bunch left. Did see some of you breifly at Arrochar, and spent some of the time from there on and off with Nielmc and Tobias - thanks for the company.

Main road section early on was better than I thought it would be, but the ride really started at Glen Fruin. Glen Fruin, Loch Long familiar from my mispent youth. From then on a lot of roads I'd never ridden. The wind assisted, warm run right down Loch Fyne was fab.

Finished feeling better than I've done in a long while on a 200K  :)

A quick visit to the folks in Balloch, and home at 12:30 for a rather long day !!

Thanks to Roberto and the Cowal Peninsula weather gods !

Echoing the above comments, I had a great day out; good company, route and weather (though I was assured several times that the weather was abnormally nice for an audax in Scotland). It was nice to meet Roberto and valkyrie again; I have no chance of connecting any of the other forum names valkyrie mentions with faces of fellow riders, but thanks for the company.

Hi All
Just to say thanks for taking part in the event, the last rider arrived 6 mins before the control closed after a missing the turn for Dunoon while enjoying the views and ended up in Invarary so an extra 40k to add to the route for him (hope you caught the last train to Edinburgh)

Hard work organising an event I was shattered by the time I got home, much easier riding the event ;D

Only one item left behind and that was a bidon so if anyone is missing one I can arrange to get it back if required.

That's one I owe mother nature, just as I was loading the car up to go home the rain came on and it poured down most of the night..lucky or what. I'm afraid I can't ensure the same for next year but I will try.

Plenty of folks took pictures on the route so I am sure we will get a few posted up to let you see what you missed (until next year!)

Cheers
Roberto
