Did you go ahead with your tarp? Any pictures if you did?
We are thinking along the same lines re a cooking area for our small tent. I've been looking at the DD Hammocks ones, and swithering whether the small one (2.8x1.8m) would be just too small......

I initially suspected that it would be too big but took the view that what can hold a lot can hold a little

Seriously, thanks, your photos are much clearer than the ones on the website, you can judge the size easier in a garden than hanging from a tree in a forest!
I am now thinking the small one would be fine for a cooking shelter......

It even comes with poles.
