Byebye iPhone hello Samsung

geraldc:
After my first iPhone way back in late 2007, followed by the 3G and then the 4, I've finally been tempted away to try the Samsung Galaxy III. The other half got one, and then after playing with it for a couple of weeks, I realised I wanted one.

Essentially it was the first phone that made my iPhone 4 feel inferior, my current contract is up, and I don't want to wait until October for the new iPhone 5 that I may not even like, so I took the jump.

The improvements in iOS6 also didn't move me much. I use googlemaps a lot, and it took them a while to get it right. I think Apple's move to do their own mapping maybe a mistake. Sure 3D rendered maps are cool, but how will that help me when I'm lost in the countryside.

The iPhone screen is just too small these days, after using a phone with a larger screen, it's too difficult to go back.

As I use the iPhone to stream audio/video as I'm out and about, I'm a heavy user, I think my max data usage was 4gb in month, which resulted in O2 cutting me off for a day, so I've also had to switch to 3, as they're the only people who guarantee no data limits. I experienced their Indian customer service today as they called me to check my credentials, so it looks like it will be an interesting experience should I have any problems.

I feel very alone, as I'm being shunned by friends still under the spell of the iPhone...

I have an HTC Sensation XE, it's my 2nd Android phone & it's so much better than the iPhone.

A guy at work has a company iPhone & really detests it. I really don't see what the appeal is!

An iphone is an apple, android is a pc. Its a design and UI thing.

Fboab has a New Phone. I was eyeing it up (a Samsung SII) as I'm due an upgrade from an original HTC Desire. The Samsung looks cool - thinner than the HTC, but wider and longer. I was put off the Note by its size, and the SII is fine size-wise. Perhaps the Samsung SIII?

Whatever way I jump - I certainly don't have any inclination to whore my bank account to iStuff.

The general quality of apps on iPhone do seem to be better, due to Apple acting as quality control. There are some stunning stats regarding how many Android apps may or may not be dodgy.

iPhones are awesome for foreign languages, ie it has pretty much all the major languages built in, whereas the Android phones in the UK only have European languages, so I have to get add ons to write Chinese etc.
