Marple Grimpeurs August 2012
crazy diamond:
Very few entries for these events so far, with less than a month to go before the first one. Personally, I think the articles in Arrivee must have put everyone off. Either people are so exhausted, or bored, by reading about them, that they don't have the strength left to actually go and ride them, or else they no longer feel the need to experience the sheer joy of riding in the Peak District.
jcbike:
Surely not how could anyone be fed up with all those AAA opportunities, hope to be there if I can swim that far!!
slohill:
After riding Don Black's "Edale Hilly" yesterday, I can understand the "too exhausted" comment---I shall however try and regain enough strength to ride the "Dark Peak" on August 1 to enjoy the Peak District and the company
MemSec:
Entries have started coming in. These are some great events, one each Wednesday during August, starting at 10am from outside Marple library and finishing for a sandwich at the Ring O Bells, a fine Robinsons pub. There is some spectacular scenery in the Peak District and we cover a fair bit of this on these 5 rides, all about 100km. We don't give AAA points away for nothing but you've got all day to savour the climbs.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the Edale 100, so here are 5 more in a similar vein.
It's surely not possible for much more rain to come, so we're bound to have a great August. Enter online through AUK Calendar page, or you can enter all 5 by post through me - my details are shown for the White Peak Grimpeur

frankly frankie:
Here in sunny Marple we've missed most of the bad weather anyway - well OK, it is raining today, but most of the rest of the year we've just been expecting the worst and day after day it hasn't happened.
Of course, the rides aren't in Marple, they just start and end there ...
