'Deep Drop' Calipers

Wiggle have Miche deep drop dual pivots @ £17.99 a pair.

Tell me why I should spend more than twice as much on Tektro etc.

(Or why I shouldn't . . .)

IME the Tektros offer close to Ultegra level stopping power (I fitted R359s to the Dave Yates and have a BR610 (Ultegra level) on the Ridley, I honestly can't tell the difference between them).

Miche are ok, from what I hear, but not quite at the level of Tektro.  Taking in to account the bike I believe this is for, maybe the Miche ones might be a good idea.

I haven't looked at Miche specifically, but I know that cheap dual-pivots can work just as well as expensive ones, from my experience with various.  Some caliper arms are stiffer than others, but even the cheapest Tektro and Alhonga-copy ones I've used have been stiff enough.

However, you might like to pay extra for nicer cable adjusters or better brake blocks (if not replacing the blocks anyway), or lower weight.

I bet they're all the same and come from the same Chinese factory anyway... I have some Ambrosio ones.

They work fine but the quality of the hardware is pish. The bolts round off and get rusty quickly. I haven't found any good-quality replacement shoes so I've been using moulded shoes/pads on mine, as I'll probably round off the bolt when I try and remove them anyway.
