Instead, the End to End and maybe the 24 too, if a certain "audax god disguised as a cycling tramp" is still after me to be his tandem partner. ;D

I can imagine George's body going round the 24 course for the 100th time, like El Cid strapped to his horse in the film starring Charlton Heston. (This is a legend and never actually happened.)

Damon.

How did you know who I meant? :D
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Because he's on Vimeo putting out an APB, at 1min 46 sec http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1442896&server=vimeo.com&fullscreen=1&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=01AAEA
There's also Steve Massey, teasing Louise about doing LEL on a Tandem.

I did hear that there was going to be a 200 in the Cambridge area next year, and lo the calendar shows a Haslingfield 200. Definitely going to have to do it given that I grew up in that village. It's bound to take in Chapel Hill (the road out to Barrington) too. :)

That'd be mine. Sorry no Chapel Hill, but you can always take a small detour. -Thinks- perhaps I should put it in after all :demon:

So my plans would be.
Ride as many 200's as poss through winter, to include that^ several times unofficially and the PS.
A series if time permits, to include the Dean 'cos I like it.
LEL if I get a place.

:)

I'll do it one way or another. If I ride up from London I'll come over it. If I get the train up I'll get off at Shepreth or Foxton and do it.

Plan now looks like this:

11-JAN: Poor Student No can do.
31-JAN: Willy Warmer (a nice ride and an easy 40km ride to/from the start). ENTERED
28-FEB: DIY 200 including Braziers Run 100 like last year.
22-MAR: Haslingfield 200 (and either cycle to the start or back to London, doubtful both but you never know)
28-MAR: The Dean 300 (the weather can't be any worse than last year!)
25-APR: Elenith 300 ENTERED
16-MAY: Bryan Chapman 600 ENTERED
26-MAY: DIY 400 - London to Padstow
early-JUN: DIY 200 banker if RTTY is still going strong
27-JUN: Midland Super Grimpeur 300 (gears please)
4-JUL: DIY 400 Dun Run and back home
26-JUL: LEL 1400 (8am start, 12kph min speed)
Aug: Cheddar Gorge 300 Perm?
Sep: ?
Oct: ?

Plus many laps of Richmond Park and after work circuits of the Surrey Hills1 as a DIY100 once the evenings start to get darker later.

Lots of rides late in the month but I'm not worried about an RRTY. It'll either happen or it won't. I'll still plan on doing at least one ride a month.

1. Leave work at 5pm. Waterloo, Dorking, Cranleigh, Epsom, Putney comes out as 106km. Home by 10pm (hopefully).

I've worked on the principle of it being the 2009 audax season and my plan is below.

This is a provisional list as Gavin Greenhow's rides aren't all in the calendar yet and subject to my own availability I usually fit a couple of his rides in each year. Completing the BCM will be my seventh year of SRs and the Heart of the Shires with be my fifth consequetive RRTY.

I had originally planned to ride Lejog as a 1400 BR instead of LEL in 2009. But because of the absence of the Killer in September I rode it then and as I now have the generous offer of a proper bed close to the start I feel an obligation to ride subject to a place being available.

Date Event Name Distance
08/11/2008 South Leics 1 DIY perm 200
06/12/2008 Tinsel and Lanes 200
25/01/2009 A Mere 200 200
08/02/2009 Rutland and Beyond 100
14/02/2009 Cotswold Corker 100
21/02/2009 Kennett Valley Run 200
14/03/2009 Severn to Wye 200
10/04/2009 Easter Arrow 400
25/04/2009 Elenith 300
02/05/2009 Brevet Cymru 400
16/05/2009 Bryan Chapman Memorial 600
30/05/2009 Irish Mail 400
06/06/2009 Heart of the Shires 200
04/07/2009 Offa's Dyke 600
26/07/2009 London Edinburgh London 1400
08/08/2009 Heart of Wales 300
05/09/2009 Kidderminster Killer 200
27/09/2009 Beyond Shropshire 200
11/10/2009 South Leics 4 DIY perm 400

Overall plan stay fit, stay in one piece and keep riding.

Plan now looks like this:

Better get used to my fizzog, as I am likely to do most of those rides as well. Even on LEL you won't escape my 10-yard-stare as I hope to be manning a control.

In addition, I hope to do most of John Hamilton's SR series and Ian H's K&SW. LEJOG also features and an Alpine Raid and/or La Marmotte is on the cards. Coupled with some hilly permanents in Wales and the North East, possibly cut with some rides North of the Border, 2009 is not shaping up to be the "take it easy year" I was contemplating at the beginning of September O:-)

Luckily you're faster than me although I think I somehow managed to see you at the Stow petrol station on the Dean.

Entries for the Elenith, BCM and Dean are in the post and I've snapped up some of the good deals on the local Travelodges (Hartlebury, Bristol Severn View Services, Oxford Peartree for the start and Wheatley afterwards).

Just got to make a note of when the cheap train tickets for each ride will go on sale and stick those dates in the diary.

That's:-

Done: 2+2+3+2+2+3 = 14 done so far (no rides in Nov or Dec as I was in South America)
Planned: 3+6+4+2+3+4+14+3 = 39

So 53 points for the year. 7 on gears (DIY 400 to Cornwall and MSG) so I'd need 4 Surrey Hills DIY 100s on fixed for 50 FWC points (not including the AAA points from the Elenith and BCM). Although I've also got September and October where I could do a 200 each month on fixed.

Plus many laps of Richmond Park (11 out of the planned 100 for the year so far) and after work circuits of the Surrey Hills1 as a DIY100 once the evenings start to get darker later. Not long now...

Lots of rides late in the month but I'm not worried about an RRTY. It'll either happen or it won't. I'll still plan on doing at least one ride a month.

Pfft. Thanks for the reminder of this thread - it is amusing how much my plans have fallen by the wayside. Yet to ride my first over-100km ride of 2009 :)
