Interesting:

suspicious unless the 322-15 rim significantly alters the profile. I have both 700x32 and 700x40 Supremes on the same TN719 622-19 rims, having just measured by caliper I get 31mm for the 32s and 39mm for the 40s. My 40s look much larger than the picture you linked to.

Schwalbe do have this funny thing beyond the 700x32 size, for the 700x35 and 700x40 the respective erto on the sidewall is 622-37 and 622-42 - this is explained on the Schwalbe blurb bit of their site but I can't remember what it said.

I've been lucky, 9k miles on M+, M and Supreme and a grand total of zero punctures, though I've been remiss in logging actual mileage per tyre. My weight has ranged from 14 to 17.5 stone in this time and I tend to run lower pressures...so it's not like they haven't had a fair workout.

I've gone for the 35s in any case.

I see there is a lot of variation in estimated tyre circumference: for the 35s, Schwalbe say 2185 for a Marathon, Cateye says 2165,  Sheldon says 2170.

Has anyone come up with a more accurate figure, for a 35, using their GPS for instance?

The profile and actual width of the tyre will depend on the model and the rim.

I've always just measured it in the past. turn wheel until valve at bottom, mark position on road. Roll along one or two complete revolutions, mark road when valve at bottom again. Get out tape measure.

We run ours at higher pressure: we have them on one ofthe tandems at 112 to 115 psi ! Else the Ibis TOuche feels soft and wobbly.  At high pressure it feels wonderful, run relatively light and fast - don´t know if it is as safe in corners. Of course the tyre is much broader than it use to be but we have not measured.

Thought the supreme was 6.5 bar tops (95psi) for a 700?

It is very common for tandems to run 20 psi over the rated maximum, somewhat offsetting the extra total weight.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

I thought the Supreme was broader than 32 mm on our tandem: now we measured it - 32 mm !!! It just looks very massive. We are looking a lot after anything about going wrong - could be the sides etc. They still just work very fine. I usually start every ride with 110 psi - then we have a disscussion and we take the little silver Lezyne portable floorpump and give it the rest. The only problem is cornering with loose gravel or something like that : the Supreme does not like things like that!

I've just measured* my 32C Supremes and they come in at 31 and a bit mm.

My 25C Durano Plus come in at a fraction under 26mm.

The 35s measure 35.9 - 36.2 mm at 65 psi on a Mavic A119 (using digital callipers).

What pressures are non-tandem people using in their 35s? The Schwalbe suggested range is 55 to 85 I think.

32s - 70 front and 90 rear
40s - 60 front and 80 rear

but those are based on my current 17.5 stone, I would reduce the rears by about 10psi if I was sub 16 stone

Though I have successfully run M+ 700x35 at 55 front and 60 rear when over 17 stone with no ill effects.

Thanks MacB. 70 / 60 R / F seems about right for my 85 kg. I’m used to 25s as my main tyre size and I’m really enjoying the change to these magnificent tyres. They seem to roll astonishingly well.

Glad you're pleased with them.
They're certainly adorning a very nice bike

Pretty pissed off with these tyres yesterday. A bad puncture - a flint has made a small split in the tyre - and we've only done 400 miles on them. I fitted them in July. In addition, our average speed was a very stodgy 8.7mph. That's no better than we managed with Marathon Plus. Add on half an hour or so to mend the puncture, which we've hardly ever had with M+ and that's bad.

Sorry to hear. We had 2-3 punctures with the rear Supreme 32 mm on our Ibis Touche tandem in the autumn 2011: we decided to place a plastic reinforcement layer to the tyres. They had started to be a little worn at that time. Today they have developed the corny look - getting more square. Still not more punctures (knock, knock, knock) and we are very happy with them. If we should use other tyres, what should be used? We have talked about the traditional Marathon but think it is too heavy. We were happy with Tourgard and are still testing Ribmo on another tandem. Gatorskin was a disaster!

I ended up throwing one away after only a few months due to tear in side wall. They appear to not be as robust as other marathons.
