Sparklets soda syphons

While playing with my new CO2 tyre inflator I was reminded of the original purpose for the cartridges.

My nan used to have one (red anodised - cool), and used it regularly to make us "pop", which was usually a bit of Ribena topped up with soda water.  Marvellous.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

My gran had one too. It's only use was to entertain us grandchildren I think. I can't remember an adult ever making a drink with it.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

So did mine! I thought it was the height of sophistication (they'd lived in the USA in the 60s - how cool is that to a nine-year old boy in 1976?). I collected the spent canisters and pretended they were bombs  :-\
