Gone out after a good fight with me. He likes play fighting - he chews rather than bites properly and rarely draws blood. People are surprised because they've only ever seen dogs do it. He is also a master of the little nip to the elbow if you're ignoring him and he wants something.

Little Monster Cat is sitting in the notepad that I was writing something of great and useful significance on. Chances are that if I'm writing or reading something, she'll appear and sit right on it and refuse to move. I've no idea how she knows.

Suffering from fleas. Apparently there's a load of fleas about now that laugh in the face of Frontline so both our cats are suffering. Got some prescription stuff from the vets that seems to be easing their issues but we also need to treat the house with some insecticide stuff. SWMBO is being bitten on a regular basis but the fleas don't seem to like me for some reason.

We treated Morphy for fleas the other day. I have seen no evidence that it has worked, but I haven't seen any that it hasn't either.

Emmie-the-orange-cat. She's had kidney failure for many months, but just as that condition got under control she developed a highly aggressive liver tumour with internal bleeding. She's lasted a couple of months with that, but it got to the point where she was starving away as the tumour grew, and the tumour pressed on her stomach preventing her eating.

I was sorry to read about this. As a renter who isn't allowed pets your cats are like my Blue Peter cat equivalents!

Not quite now, but earlier today Morphy had a close encounter with an especially fecund example of the burdock plant and had masses of seed heads stuck in his fur. Since then I had have a few sessions wielding the scissors. I think it's all out now. I hate that bloody plant.

My boys¹ are eyeing up their new toys which I just took delivery of (including various odds and sods for making / repairing the toys including wooden discs, leather cord, paper cord and chewable woven paper strips.

)

This is their main present, which they won't get till the 25th!

So far they haven't discovered the stainless steel bell which I've put in their cage... No doubt they'll figure it out at 2am tomorrow morning...

The time: 0550 hours. Wind blustering outside and cat barfing by the bed. Delightful. I say, old chap, would be so awfully kind as to clean that up, I seem to have quite the mess! Off she marches. Thanks Bad Cat, I'd like nothing more than scooping up your half-digested cat food at this godforsaken hour. FFS, do it on one of the many hardwood floor surfaces not the bedroom carpet. Or outside. At decent o'clock.

It was only a couple of hours later that I realised that the cat had (a) spoken and (b) in an upper-class accent. That's new.
