Southall / Hounslow Recommendations
« on: 04 October, 2011, 03:12:10 pm »
I'm working in central London early on Saturday morning, so I've taken the option of a cheap room at the Travelodge, Heston.
Looking for somewhere good to eat on Friday evening that's not too much of a trek.
Indian, Chinese, Thai, whatever. Not looking for the meal of a life time, just something decent.
Thanks in advance.

Oh you poor sod, Heston's vile.

I think if it were me, to cheer myself up I'd just get the bus into Southall, find an Indian cafe that looks nice and load up on Bhel Puri, Narkel Naru and Motichoor Ladoo  :D

I'd thoroughly recommend 'Desi Tadka' which is on the western end of Southall, almost the first restaurant you come to.

Try the excellent starters such as Aloo Tikka Chana Chat.

They have a website

Brilliant Restaurant in Southall is, well, brilliant.  Really good.

As Charlotte recommend, there are also a couple of sketchy looking cafe places that are totally amazing!
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

Rita's is lush.

I've found that going with a shik gets bigger portions and smaller prices.

Thank you all. Nice to have something to aim at.
Quite looking forward to having a wander around.
And as hellish as Heston M4 East maybe, earplugs and good book will make it bareable, and def preferable to the 3am North Devon start alternative.
Now then, Soho breakfast??

Just had dinner at the New Asian Tandoori, otherwise known as Roxy on the Green in Southall (just round the corner from Brilliant , which wasn't when I went about 8 years ago)

Food good, but not quite up to Desi Tadka standards and nothing like the same atmosphere. (try youtubing Desi Tadka  ;)   )
