Planet X Podsacs
« on: 06 October, 2021, 11:13:20 am »
Anyone had any experience with these, I mean the things that look like a bottle cage with a drybag strapped to them?

Also anyone have an idea what the C-C measurement is on the mounting holes - the website does not specify?

I've got a pair of the 5.5L set (actually a trio as one came without a mounting kit and they sent a replacement). I'm out at the minute but will measure when I get home.

Fwiw I've been pleased with them so far

Miles cycled 2013 = 6141.4
Miles cycled 2012 = 4038.1

The mount.

And with the bottom of the mount to the left. Not the best lighting I'm afraid. It looked better in the preview image.

Hopefully that is sufficient for you but I can be more precise if so required.

Presumably the same bolt spacing as a standard bottle cage? ie 64mm / 2.5in.

Yes, based on that picture they are. I thought they would be but wanted to confirm as their website has no details on that.

I've just returned a pair of the 4 litre ones. I was hoping that I could put my sleeping bag in one and the tent in the other but they're just a bit too small, sadly. Suspect the 5.5ltr ones might just workbut have decided not to bother after all.

FWIW I liked the quality of bag and frame etc and would have used them size not withstanding.

cheers, I'm looking at them as a low profile way of carrying audax gear, I have panniers if I want to go big-scale or go shopping

I ummed and ahhed over 4 Vs 5.5.

Ended up getting the 5.5L to be sure my sleeping bag and sleep mat would fit with the plan to buy other dry bags if too large.

They were just right in the end.

And seems like a pretty solid mounting. I have however kicked the bags when rolling up to junctions but I am clumsy.
