How easy is to get from Dover port to London by coach or train?

So I am appearing at dover port and need to get to London.  Going to get the coach at it is the cheapest option and internet searching shows that the national express has coaches that go from the port.  But can't book a coach from Dover port on the national express website.

So what is the deal

From the ferry terminal to the town isn't a long walk or ride, but there's usually a shuttle bus (Or used to be, I haven't used it for about 4 years) Train takes about half the time at twice the price.

But - where are you coming from? It's usually cheaper to get a coach including the ferry than it is to buy them separately, London to Paris can often be less than £20.

Looking at the coach was £8 each way and the train £10.

How far is Dover priory trains station from dover port?

Annoyingly, Dover Priory is right across the other side of town from the eastern docks. And up a hill. Not a huge distance, maybe not much more than a mile, but enough to be annoying if you’re dragging luggage. Fine if you’re on your bike.

There used to be a station right on the western dock, but both the station and the dock are long since out of service, which is a shame. Like so much else in the world, the whole set up of the passenger port is very much designed to suit car users now.

I was wondering about Dover Maritime station, from which we used to take the boat train. Sadly, it is no more.

The station at Dover Harbour has been repurposed mostly for cruise ship passengers and their coach day trips.

To be fair I would expect the two traditional biggest markets for foot passengers to be Paris and Lille. The Eurostar covers both plus there are many budget flights to Paris, making the ferry option pretty uncompetitive.

There was also Oostende, for Belgium and the trains to Germany and Denmark.

Eurostar goes to Brussels now…

D wanted to go to Denmark on a train a few years ago but the plane turned out much cheaper & quicker.

£26.50 seems to be the cheapest rail fare, can't see any Advance fares

Yeah the cheapest price has gone up from last night when tired me thought I booked it but no confirmation received..  by over 200% and people wonder why trains are shite and really over priced.  My train rant over.

since the tunnel opened the Dover / Folkestone ferries (one by one starting with the SeaCat and also through the loss of Dover Marine station and also Duty Free which the ferry companies made a lot from) have largely given up trying to provide a service for through foot passengers. Dieppe is still a reasonable Paris-London bet with a convenient station each side of the Channel although it also requires a change of trains both sides
