ACH, the Titans of the East, are currently winning the number-of-entries competition by 7 entries to 5.

Further entries welcome, and indeed ESSENTIAL if you want your ride to get AUK validation. Mr Lordy has paid for your entries, planned the route, told you where to go and how to get there (and even how to get back), but you still have to fill in your own entry form!

Whether or not you are using GPS evidence to get your ride validated, go to

http://www.aukweb.net/diy/gps/

And click "online entry form". Then:

Select Tony Hull (me) as organiser.
Select 400 (or 200 if you're sensible)
Date: 20/9/14
Start: CSBridge or TBridge
Total distance: 400 (or 200)
you can leave out all the control details (but it could be useful to know where the controls are)
Other info: please put "ACB/ACH Event"
now, if you decide to "abide by..." and so on,
Submit.
You have done the necessary.

Thanks and good luck. May both Clubs win.

Tony

Come on Simon, you know it makes sense.

There should be around 12 ACB riders.

Rabbit and for those wanting to witness the clash, Newbury will be a little like the day Bernard Hinault met the protesters!

Point of order.

Tower Bridge isn't in Hackney. It's in Tower Hamlets at one end and Southwark at the other.

You mean they're using a ringer?! Or don't have a decent bridge of their own?  ;D

In fact the Bridge is , TBMK, not part of any Borough.  It is owned by a Charitable Trust (Bridge House Estates) that is part of the City of London.  Therefore it is neutral territory

Thanks for reminding me to check - there are lifts booked at 7:30, 7:50, 19:30 and 20:30 this Saturday, which could coincide with our crossings: http://www.towerbridge.org.uk/TBE/EN/BridgeLiftTimes/

Meanwhile, 16 entries now in, 8 each way.

Is it this Saturday? When and where is the Bristol start?

What a shame I no longer have the old 1982 Dawes Lightning (are extra points available for a bike so much too big for you that the standover clearance is negative?) - not that I'd make it more than halfway, but still...

07:30 at the Suspension Bridge (Bristol end, I assume).

You can ride half way (i.e. to Tower Bridge), or to the mid-point and back (you could then show our ACH friends the 'best' way into Bristol (A4 and Bridge Valley Road gives great views of the bridge).

Yep 7.30am at the Suspension Bridge, still time to enter  ;D  And if you only want to ride halfway there is a 200km version so you can ride back to Bristol with ACH

I may well manage a pointless ride to Newbury for lunch. Will bring a scorecard.

I'm in! Could swing the balance with my beard..
Now to dig out some suitable attire   for this for a black tire event

Has anyone got a gps track of the route (avoiding MB's fateful bridge)?

Final GPS tracks for ACHackney riders have been sent to Ivan in the last 10mins, with a couple of options to get in/out of Bristol, to avoid the busier roads.

Mattc, it'd be great to see you, the best place for ring side seats, is in the Toby Carvery, near Newbury centre, on the road out to Thatcham, ETA 13:00/13:30ish.

Start/control points:

Bristol: Clifton Suspension Bridge

London: Tower Bridge

Receipts required:

Start/End points +

(Mileage based on start from Tower Bridge):

Virginia Water( 41.3km), Three Mile Cross (30.3) , Newbury (28.3), Chippenham (59.7), Fishponds Morrisons (32.1), Clifton suspension bridge (8.1).

Riders will pass outward and return route.
Does this mean Brizzle riders will be controlling at Fishponds Morrisons on the way out??? Or at least passing by there? If so, I might meet you all by the Fish (no points for me, thanks, just along for the ride)

There's no control there any more, but there's talk of heading out that way (and then up Hinton hill  rather than Tog Hill.)
