He's a member of a popular beat combo mi lud.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

The Red Guitars :D

There's also the Paddingtons, I suppose.  But they must be, at most, the fifth best band in Hull.

Well, I suppose I should have known better than to post in all seriousness about the moderately unusual phenomenon of observing a house martin in the 4th week of October and not expect the topic to be dragged into the mire of obscure 3rd rate pseudo-musicianship.

While we are on about Hull, and in the spirit of mindless trivia which clearly floats the boat of the responders to my OP, for what reason is Hull City unique amongst league football teams? ;)

Back to OT (I take it that a "band" is human and so off-topic)...

Mrs N & I were visiting Cornwall a month ago and saw several swallows and house martins. I mentioned it to one of the caravan site wardens, who said she had seen house martin nests with youngsters in Newlyn last December. There are lots of insects around, even in the frozen north of Warwickshire (saw a dragonfly today inter alia),

I speculate that they might have enough food, in a good year, to give up migration.

I know Hull and Grimsby used to be the only clubs allowed to play league football on Christmas Day, but not any more.

It is a remarkably trivial answer...

Sadly, I know this - you can't colour in any of the letters in Hull City.  This is not true of any of the other 91 league clubs.

Mrs Manotea tells me that we ha d a Jay in our back garden. She described it as a "magpie in mufti". I  ought to add that I had never considered Mrs Manotea to be very ornithologically inclined so I'm not sure whether this is an accurate or significant sighting.

At least Fat Pigeon has buggered off for a while.

Jays are quite striking fellows

One of my (Yorkshire) student housemates described them as "hard bastards, cos they're pink and if they weren't hard the other birds would take the piss"

'I'm just off to the supermarket to get the sunday lunch dear', said Mr Hawk.

I only watched it for about 5 minutes. It flew around the lake about 70' up and twice came down to drink. the it disappeared and I waited for a while but it didn't come back. Probably on its way to Africa!
