I'm aiming at next Wednesday and wondering about The Leather Bottle, Pleashey as I was cruelly denied a few weeks back.

What is the punishment for forward planning crimes?

No beer, spirits, pickled eggs or crisps/other bar snacks and you have to be back home by nine.  :o

That could work fairly well for me. I'm available from about 7 so I could either use rail assistance (which I will on the way back anyway 'cos I've got a valid ticket in my pocket) or ride all the way to Stock.

I'll PM you my mobile number.

Very pleasant evening with Oaky in which pints were consumed. I did a taste test comparing Maldon Gold with Brewer's Gold and, to my surprise, preferred the former. Now at Wickford Stn waiting for the 1221 train home.

A very pleasant evening sampling the wares at the Hoop.

A bit more chess was talked than is usual at these fixtures.

Having had a bit of a twinge in my right knee for a couple of weeks, i was interested an encouraged to find that it held up to the rigours of North Hill fine, and was still feeling good when I got home.  I wasn't so encouraged this morning when I couldn't walk downstairs on it though :(  It seems to have returned to just mild discomfort now, after the application of a couple of doses of ibuprofen gel.  I shall try and rest it more thoroughly fro a while.

I think eating it might help more.

I forgot two small details of last night's outing.

At the top of North Hill, I say a huge group of cyclists out on a night ride of some sort.  They were joining The Ridge (heading downwards) from Runsell Lane.  Lots of very high powered lights on show, and flat bars.  I'm assuming they'd been or were going off road somewhere.

Oh and in the Hoop I mostly drank the Maldon Gold, but did try a West Country-brewed ale whose name escapes me (something Cream, IIRC).  I quite like this but it had a scent I couldn't quite place.  In the end the nearest I could com to describing it was "It smells a bit like meths, but not in a bad way".  ;D

It was called East Street, which was why I chose some, living, as I do, in East Street.

Still on for this Weds eve anyone?? Btw, the HILL CLIMBING season is upon us...'Les Grimpeurs du North Hill' might be interested in two club events on the mighty col: 25th Sept at 11am [Chelmer CC] and 6th November at 10:30am [Southend Wheelers]. There is also an Eastern Counties C.A. event on 15th Oct at 14:00, shaved legs obligatory.

1,200 yards, from the bus stop beyond Tofts Chase, to the telegraph pole at the Village Hall. Course record is 1.24, my best attempt last Sunday was 2.18, offspring a bit slower, so room for improvement allround .

I will be out this Wednesday, and quite amenable to OD's suggestion of the Leather Bottle at Pleshey.

For once, though, I won't be routing via North Hill (although somewhere upthread there's a perfectly good route to the LB via NH that we used before).  I have done something to my right knee, and want to keep the exercise very gently for a couple of weeks in the hope that it's OK for RichForrest's  MK 600 on 24/25 Sep.

I have to escourt Twinkle Toes to Sprouts at Spring Lodge. We could meet at the Peg Millar / Terling Road cross roads perhaps?

Can't remember, we'll just do what the Garmin tells us and hope for the best!  What could possibly go wrong?  Can I bring some chillies for you to process at some point?

Okey-dokey.  As long as there aren't any hills or off-road sections!  ;D

Yup - we may as well make an evening of it ... I find a few glasses of wine or beer assist in the processing.  I will check on my availability :)
