Advice/suggestions re riding either LeJog or Jogle on fixed?
Done it before links etc?

Cornwall is hilly. Fixed is miserable with a constant headwind, so a JoGLE would be a silly idea (OK, some people do LEJoG and still get a headwind every day, but it's unlikely in summer).
You could hedge your bets with a flip-flop hub and two different sprocket sizes.

Riding fixed in Cornwall isn't too bad. It's bumpy rather than mountainous. Scotland is different, long climbs. I did LEJOG in 7 days with gears, I've been thinking about a fixed run recently.

That was a good read, thank you for sharing. Makes it sound rather easy, which I am sure it wasn't.

If you like to ride fixed then just do it, it's just a bike ride. If not, then why?
Advice would be pack light and be prepared to walk at times. That probably applies regardless of your choice of bike.

I did LEJOG on a singlespeed Pompino about 10 years ago now. Wouldn't fancy doing it fixed! SS was tough enough!

I rode from home (Milton Keynes)-Dover-Land's End-Durnes-John O Groats-home on fixed in 2006.
IIRC I used a 80" or so gear. Except for the bit from Yeovil-Land's End and back to Exeter and the A68 from Edinburgh to Darlington on the way home, where I used about a 70" gear. I did a mostly main road bash along the A30 ( a fair bit through the night) and the old A30 where I could. I was glad that I had a lower gear where I used it! The 80" wasn't a problem (for me, I like bigger gears) going over Shap or over the Scottish Highlands. It's a long drag up from Pitlochry to Dalwhinnie, so expect to be slow. The run down to Inverness from Dalwhinnie will make up for it.

Thanks Teethginder,
Your reply has reignited an idea, though now that's more likely in 2020.....Your gear choice would be overambitious for me though I think....

Burnley CC are running LEJOG as an audux in 2020, I'm thinking of tackling it on my fixed.

Thanks DAT
That sounds like a feasible plan ..

I'm tempted to have a go at Hummer's Lumpy End to End, but need to round TCR first before I realistically consider any other long rides. My plan would probably to do it beginning of Sept just as the schools go back to avoid the worst of the holiday traffic. AndyC's calendar ride for 2020 is pretty appealing as well, need to see the route for that though.

I'm thinking of turning it into a LEJOGLE.

LEJOG on fixed...
did it on penny farthing in 2019. Ultimate fixed bike.
Just get on with it!
