AUK brevet awards
« on: 28 August, 2019, 06:41:38 pm »
For information purposes, if you've just ridden PBP check your results sheets in relation to AUK brevet awards. You might now be eligible to claim the Brevet 5000/25000 awards:

Brevet 5000: "The B5000 requires a Randonnée of 1200 km or more, a Super Randonneur series, 1000 km, 24 hour team ride, plus other events to a total of 5000 km, all BR or BRM, all ridden within a 4 year period."

Brevet 25000: "The B25000 award requires a Paris-Brest-Paris or London-Edinburgh-London, another event of 1300 km or over, a 1000 km, a 24 hour team ride, three Super-Randonneur series, plus any BR or BRM events to a total of 25,000 km, all ridden within a 6 year period. Events prior to 1991 are not accepted."

I'm not sure whether the AUK results system will automatically identify eligible riders.

My spreadsheet tells me that subject to validation I've got B5000 and am a years SR and a 1300+ short of B25000

I've also got it calculating the ACP R5000 and R10000 awards
I should have just ticked the final box for ACP R5000, and am a second 1000, a LRM 1200+, a further 1700 ACP homologated km and a Super Randonee (erm...) short of ACP R10000

This is likely to drive my plans for the next couple of years.

Might be a bit early, but I've a North of England Super Randonnee planned (starting at Hexham). I just need to collect the photies and get it approved.

For the B5000, if you have done PBP and LEL, do these count as =>1200km and 1000km? Or do you have to ride another 1000km event?

Ideal, gives me time to lose enough of the spare tyre...
I'm also hoping that it being in the North of England means there's some good high speed descents in there, as by the sounds of CETs Welsh one the descents are mostly as nadgery as the climbs.

Completing PBP has got me my 2nd Brevet 5000, just waiting for validation so I can make a claim, I need a Randonee of 1300k or more for my 2nd Brevet 25000 & completion of a 3rd Brevet 5000, roll on next season.

Seems I qualify for two B5000 awards  :) Last year I got my first 1000km homologated and with LEL and an arrow in 2017 would make the first (that I should have claimed last year, I hope it is not too late?) And this year, 2nd 1000km with PBP and arrow in 2018.

Somewhat related: can I claim the ACP5000 now, then ride a Super Randonnée next spring and claim ACP10000 (given the above rides)? Or are PBP and LEL "wiped of the slate" so to speak once I apply for the ACP5000 award?

You can use the same rides to claim both ACP awards.

Is it me, or has info on the ACP awards been removed from the AUK website under the refresh? I can't seem to find them.

It is unclear from the website and the regs if multiple SR series from the same year can be included in the Brevet 25,000 award.

Regs say: (viii) Brevet 25000: within a six year period, events comprising 3 Super Randonneur, PBP or LEL,
an event of 1000km or more, an additional event of 1300km or more, a 24 hour team Arrow and
other BR, BRM or RM events to bring the total up to at least 25,000 km.

for the Ultra Randonneur award it is explicit that only one SR per year counts towards it:
(vii) Ultra Randonneur : riders completing ten Super Randonneur series shall be eligible for the
award of Ultra Randonneur. Only one series per year counts. The series do not have to be
consecutive

Does anyone have any experience / knowledge of this?

I got the B25000 back in 2012.

I'm not going to try for a second.

Thanks for sharing, Andy.  You’ve made me realise that finishing the West Highland 1000 last year was what I needed to complete a Brevet 5000.  I’d never aimed for this award as the logistics of a 24 hour team ride were difficult, but managed a York Arrow in 2017 and PBP in 2015 all the pieces come together.  👍

If you click on "claimed" it gives you a document with info on how to do it.

I think I've got an SR if I can be bothered to validate my Belgian ride with AUK. Do I need to email the organiser to get a 'validation code' or something? I'm not super fussed but it would be nice to sew the patch onto my Barley. And the ride was the hardest I've done in my life (much harder than my UK 600) so actually writing up this post has made me more minded to do it...

edit; emailing the controller now

Randonneurs BE publishes homologation numbers, if you can't find it on the website, email them for the URL. Then email the link to recorder@ and wait. There's a lot of riders doing overseas events, so the recorder has quite a backlog. They get added eventually, but it takes a while. Alternatively, when you get the brevet card back, send a cope of both sides, with the ACP sticker on it, to recorder.

cheers I think I've got the brevet card somewhere which I kept for sentimental reasons because the ride was so type 3! but hopefully a link to the results page from randonneurs.be will suffice.

So the homolgomation no. has a cell on the finishers' PDF but it isn't obvious to me (???)

Has the formatting of the spreadsheet made it unviewable? Might have to email Luc to get it if so.

Assuming you're the one AUK member on that list, your homologation number is 155996.

Email recorder@ with the above link, mention the homologation number, and also include your AUK membership number.

Then wait... Current wait time seems to be upwards of 3 months.

There is also an online form now: https://www.audax.uk/forms/overseas-event-claim-form I've not used it yet.

Fab that's me. I am not very clever, I was looking for one number for the entire ride rather than an individual one next to my name....

Thanks! Form submitted. Would it be presumptious to buy the AUK badge now before validation? I've not got any audaxy badges or whatnot yet and it'd be a good one to have  ;D

One number per human. Else it wouldn't work.

Eventually it'll show up in your AUK record as an OS400 "OVERSEAS 400", and there will be an AUK number to go with it.

If you think the ride was hilly enough to gain any AAA points, for that you need to email Ivan, there's a recent thread on here about how to contact him.

Just a bit more useful info' re the Brevet 5000/25000 awards. In addition to the SR/PBP/LEL/1000/arrow etc, you obviously need other events (only BRM for the ACP award) to make up the distance of 5000/25000. I've read somewhere that although you have to complete an Arrow/Fleche, you can't count the distance towards the 5000/25000 awards (ie - if you achieve 400 km/500 km riding the arrow, you can't count the 400/500 towards the 5000 distance). Happy to be corrected if wrong.

Arrows do count towards total distance (Easter Arrow only for ACP awards) but I can't recall whether actual distance or min, arrow distance (360km) is counted.

I'd semi assumed it'd be points distance rather than distance ridden, so just like a 210 is 200km a 499km Arrow would count as a 400.
