"Fascination" by Alphabeat is now and always has been "Vaccination", since waaaay before Covid.

"You pull the trigger on my Spud Gun" always seemed a bit off piste for Kiss, but it's quite memorable, for all that.

And of course, as Bon Scott once hungrily opined, "It's a long way to the shop, if you wanna sausage roll".

Yesterday DJ Random played Janis Joplin singing "Me & Bobby McGee".  I'm afraid I substituted the word "sell" for "lose" in the line "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to...", because of Billy Bragg's "Marching Song Of The Covert Battalions".

And when Janis sings “In all kinds of weather…” then, thanks to the Bonzos, the next line is “We'll rhino together”, while the whole song is now “Me & Bradley McGee” following an anecdote from TV's Super D Millar during this year’s Tour.

National Anthem:-

Just been to our village Remembrance Day parade.  Fabulous turnout and great music from our local brass band (we are lucky to have a "top section" outfit).  I made an almost imperceptible change to the first two lines of a verse (my change comes second each time);-

"Thy/Her choicest gifts in store
On Her/Us be pleased to pour"

I say "imperceptible" - but it was noticed (and appreciated) by some!

Occurs to me that this must the one of the earliest examples of the deadly "in store".

Watch out boy - she'll warm you up;
Whoa-oa, here she comes,
She's a fan heater.

;D Have you seen any of Daryl Hall's clips on you tube?  He gets some really good people together, with a terrific drummer.  I think the series is called Daryl's House.

Catch the wind -  Donovan

I always thought it was :-

In the chilly autumn mist.....

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty, I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind

Have we had "I will go down with the shit" by Dildo?
It is simpler than it looks.

And somewhat related, The Stranglers' “Toilet On The Sea”.

Daryl's House is a fine thing, well worth looking up on Youtube.

Just this minute found out that the words to Psycho Killer that I've always heard as Realisant mon espoir, je me lance vers tes bras, are actually Realisant mon espoir, je me lance vers la gloire.

Which is more in keeping. But hey it's never too late to catch up and it hasn't even been 40 years since I first heard it.

As I slogged up Charlaw Fell this morning I was deeply concerned that the funk-soul-classic lady singing was in misery, the refrain over the cheery brass section being a reiteration that 'I don't wanna di-ie'.

I've just looked it up.
