MP Doesn't want Trains in the New Forest
« on: 25 November, 2021, 09:30:41 am »
Julian Lewis, MP for the New Forest, has always made his dislike of cyclists clear.
It now transpires he doesn't like Trains either.

He's criticising plans to investigate the re-opening of the Waterside line, which was closed in the 1960's and runs from Totton to Hythe, describing the plan as "Frankly alarming".

Ironically one of his claims is that it will cause extra congestion on the roads (due to level crossings).

Car usage is now so high, that it is at the capacity of the roads, and any minor disruption will cause congestion. The response should not be to continue backing cars as the best transport solution.

One assumes the freight trains that currently use the line don't cause congestion because they take off and fly over the level crossings, yes?

Clearly, as crossing that line is such an issue for him, he regularly desires to get in the f :demon: ing sea.
