Various bits of new kit have been turning up all week including an Alpkit Bulb lantern and a Thermarest Compack chair kit.  Their first outing will probably be the camping weekend at Gordy's followed by 2 weeks in Belgium.

Went to have a look at some rucksacks in our local Millets.
Whilst there noticed they had Trangia 27-1's on special offer for £30.

Went into the Nice Outdoor Shop to buy a smaller fuel bottle.  Came out with a new hat as well...  :-[

I should really learn to avoid that place...

A UCO Micro Candle Lantern has just arrived in the post. Mine is yellow, it's cute.

I'm planning on hanging it from the apex of the Shangri La 3 with a foil pie dish as a light reflector.

I just took delivery of a Exped Downmat 7 DLX in anticipation of the YACF Ecosse camping trip this weekend.  My first impression is that it seems a good piece of kit.  I'm hoping that this along with my Alpkit Skyehigh 400 sleeping bag will allow me to have a decent kip.

I've bought a flysheet extension for a Vango Force Ten tent.  It should fit my old Black's ridge tent which I hope to replace with a genuine Force Ten for the Spring.  Off to North Devon at the end of next week.

Haven't bought anything. Does that make me a bad person.

Anyway, having visited the backpacklight website, spotted this, which for all you bonkers Audaxers out there might be an absolute 'must have' item:

I have one. It made me a sweaty betty on the freeze your bits off camping. You really can get it back in the bag and it's smaller than a 500ml water bottle.

A sleeping mat from Peli.

Her selling one was serendipitous. At the music festival our girls decided to 'blow up' the self - inflating mats. They got them to the point of looking like airbeds, sat on them - and burst one  ::-)

Hehe, good timing.

Do they want a tent to go with the mats?  ;D We're selling our Blacks Octane 3. I feel very guilty about it.  :'(

Tents we have.

Sleeping bags . . . . Turns out the girls are thin skinned or something. At the summer festival MrsCharly and I ended up giving the girls our (thicker) sleeping bags and we used the girl's summer weight ones.

Errr, yes, big style.

Our 2005 Campus Indiana 8 circus tent is nearing the end of its serviceable life so we found ourselves visiting Camping & General on Canvey Island for they are having their end of season sale.

We came away with a Kampa Pendine 8 plus side canopy thingy.  I never thought the day would come when I would find myself typing the following ... the tent comes with a CARPET!  We have a lightweight hoover in the loft so we are wondering whether we should take it with us.

Of course this now means we need to have one last camping trip this year to try the new big top out.

I now need a trailer to carry it ( it fits securely enough on the rack, but I can't get my leg over  :-[ )

(Probably a trip up to SJSC tomorrow unless I get a response to my wanted ad).
