Seven

3 mine (Cotic Soul; Fixie Inc Peacemaker; Planet X Kaffenback being finished built the end of this month).

4 Mel's (Revolution MTB with slicks for commuting which she's fallen out of love with; Puch Prince rescued from a police auction which just the other day I put a straight bar on for her to commute with; 50s bike which should be a relatively easy resto job; another Puch rescued from a pile of scrap metal for resto).

Oh, and the weekend after this one we're likely driving to Derby so she can see the colours of the Mercian bikes in the flesh.

There's something wrong with this equation.

Currently 5, 3 are mine (Claud, The Heretic and a Marin Mount Vision Pro), Mrs T's new Raliegh Pioneer and TLD's Gary Fisher Sunspot.  Oh can we count a mini quad bike too, in which case 6.

Mrs T doesn't comprehend the N+1 rule, so it will probably stay at that, even when I get my new bike (which should be the end of this year) as I can only get it if I get rid of one first....

I guess Claud will get the boot to be replaced by a nice Pinarello :)

I shall have to show Mr R this thread, to make him see sense and that we are letting the side down by having so few bikes between us.

5: The fixed, the geared Audax bike, the Colnago, the hack bike, Mrs G's bike.

None in the house.

I've just adjusted my vote after a recount - now 19 plus a mountain bike.

I keep them too long, and they become emotionally attached, and less saleable as the kit has been superceded.

My friend around the corner is far better at stock control, sells them whilst current and never keeps them more than a year or so.

He's currently shifting 10  speed bikes to make room for next year's 11 speed!

Close to "normal"  :) here with five: my Univega roadish bike, my Schwinn Cimarron MTB/tourer (sadly soon to be sold to help pay for the next thing on the list), a Bike Friday Family Tandem, the wife's Specialized Hardrock, and the kid's boat anchor, er, 16" BMX bike.

Noncountables include a Schwinn road frame trying not to become a fixie, the kid's trailer bike (also leaving soon to pay for the tandem), and the Miyata 312 that'd hiding behind my office desk (scrapped 650B conversion project).

8 here.
3 are Mrs Nerds (Trek MTB, Giant flat bar road bike and the 60's Moulton that Andy Gates gave us.  Cheers, Andy! :))
5 are mine (Pipedream MTB, mystery blue fixed, orange Hill Special singlespeed / fixed, Surly Pacer Audax bike and a Moulton APB)
The Moultons are in bits and I'd really like to sell the mystery blue fixed as things are getting out of hand.

I feel very virtuous.  O:-)

I have the Eclipse and the Globe in my studio flat, usually joined by the Bloke's Puch.

In my mum's garage at Bognor there is my very elegant sit-up-and-beg 3-speed Peugeot, for pootling to the shops when I am there.

So three, one of which lives elsewhere, plus the Bloke's.

Five. All inside the flat.

Spesh Roubaix (bedroom)
Pearson Touche (hall)
TSR-Moulton (bedroom)
Nicolai Helius CC (bedroom)
Cotic Soul (airing cupboard)

And there's only me in the flat. Bikes per person, anyone?

None in the house - none of them are house-trained enough to be trusted not to leave tell-tale black chain-link-shaped marks on the carpet.

(On VERY special occasions, i.e. when I'm off at silly o'clock in the morning, and don't want to wake the neighbours by opening the garage door then, the Brommie is allowed in the hall, if folded.)

7 in the garage.  (2 'bents, '80s-style Peugeot racer, Super Galaxy, Discovery Twin tandem, Ridgeback Nemesis commuter, Brompton.)  And a trailer.  No room for a car.

Only me in the house.

Three in a 1 bed flat:

Cougar frame custom road: In the bath
Dawes Audax: Alongside the bath
Ridgeback Neutron: In the (unlocked!) cupboard outside the front door to my flat.

My Sardar lives in Wales, so technically I simply have a well adjusted three bicycles.

And I use the shower!

Just two of mine and J's slicked-up MTB.  I don't think my shed's big enough for any more.

Two in the flat, two in the landlord's leaky shed.

Do tandems count as one, and does a frame count as half?

Tandems = 1
Frames = 0
Unicycle = 0

I beg to differ  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I have two unicycles, but decided they don't make a bicycle.

I do! I live alone, I live in a tiny flat with no space to store a bike unless I got rid of the furniture, and I keep my one and only bike locked on the ground floor of the common stair.

I'm really letting the side down, I only have three, and one of those is in bits scattered around the flat house (I keep on forgetting I moved!).  I do have a BOB as well, and that takes up more room than any of the bikes.

Must try harder...
Actually, it is rocket science.

About 20 in the garage, 5 outside, 2 at work and the tandem is still on holiday...

... but then it depends whether you clasify a pedal powered radiator as a bike:

or daft things like the Penny Fakething.

No.

The DBS commuting bike (Loki as it is a norse for running the messages)
The Ribble - currently set up as a not very fast TT bike.
Fred - a rebuilt and slightly remodelled Fred James frame built up as a fast tourer/winter bike
The Tractor - old heavy MTB but it runs fine
Igor - the tandem
TODM's bike.
Kids bikes: 3x MTB, one cheapy girls bike to be passed on to a better home. And a small Raleigh Pacer Road bike with 20" wheels. Ideal for a 7yo.

Squint the recumbent - a 20" 3 speed rear wheel and a 16" front wheel. Only rideable if you are under about 5'. The front and rear wheels are not in line, in any dimension except time.

I make that (finds fingers and takes socks off) a round dozen.
There is also a trailer.

What is missing?
A track bike.
A road race bike that weighs less than 10kg.
A cyclocross bike.

Quick count up reveals:

Trek, Peugeot, Basso, DynaTech, Falcon, Merlin, DiamondBack x2, and Junior's Embra. That's 9.

Then there's 2 x unbranded alloy framesets, one Emmelle (dismantled but complete) and a 60cm unbranded steel road frame with enough assorted bits to make ALL of them roadworthy. That's 13.

AND I sold 3 frames earlier this year!  :o

I said it was getting out of hand . . .
