Is this an old man's record?

Partly because of the mental stuff needed for it and partly because the preparation and recovery would eat into a money-earning Pro's schedule.

Alex Dowsett is 26 so it doesn't have to be an old mans record. It seems to be something typically done to crown a career but he found a way of fitting it into his pro schedule with no ill effects (well none we know of but he hasn't raced much this year since).

Perhaps, rather like Grand Tour winners, the body needs to have gained a little resilience and development and that is why the record is attempted by those the other side of 25yrs.
