I watched "Pointless" this evening and it seemed to me that one of the guys in the final was deprived of a pointless answer because he had a slight speech impediment. The winning pair were from Cardiff and in the final they decided to name three member of the Welsh team that beat England in the 6 Nations in 2013. They chose, in order, Justin Tipurik, Matthew Hibbard and Toby Faletau.
Hibbard is, of course, completely wrong: his name is Richard, not Matthew, but the guy mispronounced Tipuric's name and called him Triptych. He had been having a bit of trouble with his pronunciation two or three times in the programme. Justin Tipuric was a pointless answer. Luckily, Toby Faletau was also a pointless answer so they won their £2000 anyway, but it was perfectly obvious to me that the guy was doing his best to get his tongue around the word "Tipuric" but just couldn't do it. It reminded me of the mispronunciation which has allowed Oldham Athletic to be namd "Thlatic".
