Another vote for FIP here. Friday night is jazz night.
Also for KEXP, though a couple of the presenters need some winding through. We ended up hooked on King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard thanks to them.
Also, 6 Music Gideon Coe show saved my life (when I thought nobody made music for me anymore).
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

May I take the opportunity to remind you all that even in these troubled times that jazz is still wrong.

But it's jazz introduced in French. Therefore it's ultra cool.

Le Jazz est très cool.  Exhibit A: Le Hot Club de France.

There's also what guitarist Danny Gatton dubbed "Redneck Jazz" which is not quite le same thing.

This is also jazz.
It not exactly dixieland though.

I used to think the same.

Then I drank half a bottle of Benylin and it all made sense.

This sorry isn't new for me, but I got a feeling this will be new for you.

Lhasa de Sela's album La Llorona gives me many a happy memory of working on a campsite in France back in 2003. Sadly this talented woman was taken from us way too early

Yesterday I was playing Gregory Porter - Liquid Spirit, again an album I haven't heard before, I wonder if you have, I have seen I'm talking on the telly and talked about but this was the first time I heard his music

Tony Allen & Hugh Masekela's Rejoice is a thoroughly splendid record, as you'd expect from two absolute legends of African music. It was recorded a while ago - Hugh Masekela died in 2018 - but only released last month. For added poignancy, Tony Allen died yesterday too.

One of the tracks, Never, has been getting a fair bit of airplay on 6music - it's a cracking tribute to another African music legend, Fela Kuti, with whom Tony Allen worked often:

It might all be a bit too jazz for some tastes but can be enjoyed without the need for Benylin.

I was brought up being forced by my dad to listen to Stephane Grapelli and Django Reinhardt. This may explain a lot. Or it might explain nothing at all...

The King Gizzard set was a good one - agreed about the presenters :D

He's on a new album (released a couple of weeks ago) called Transylvanian Folk Songs. I've only heard a couple of tracks, but I will make time to listen properly.

At the risk of going all Wowbagger, I've heard of Skunk Anansie, Ry Cooder, Hugh Masakela and Gregory Porter.  The rest of your stuff is so f**king esoteric!

I've recently discovered 1990's US indie band Neutral Milk Hotel.  In simple terms they did two albums and disappeared.  The first is a lo-fi, fuzzy and thoroughly enjoyable work "On Avery Garden" but their 2nd album "In the aeroplane over the sea" is more folky and has become regarded as a bit of a hidden classic.

There's a good deal of experimentation, odd instrumentation etc. and the results can be hit and miss but generally I found both to be well worth the listen.
