This year's editions of the 200 & 100km Horsepower Audaxes are revving up ...
100km Brevet Populaire checked today and amended route sheet plus info onto the AUK website. I have added a new alternative [advisory] route back from Great Sampford via Bardfield - a quieter and prettier route than the B184 from Thaxted, which remains the official 'gritted' route in case of freezing conditions. There is still the laney route option from Thaxted, possible to use both ways if free from ice, but rather pot holed in places. Both alternatives add about 1.2km.
The 200 will certainly be advised of the new route, as it's a better way to Dunmow for full-value riders in the dark. Cafe at Snetterton is up to speed as well - we'll be doing a Helpers' Ride on Saturday 2nd March, if anyone else would like to ride then and help on 9th. If previous editions are anything to go by, then we'll be having a coffee and cake stop in Lavenham, the village shop or maybe the chippy in East Harling and then an afternoon second lunch binge at Wetherspoons in Newmarket. Finish at the Angel and Harp in Churchend.
There will be the first deployment of our ACME PBP Qualifier Stickers!
