The Olympics take place next year. There just has to be a role for our baton. You will never forgive yourselves etc.......

It's festering in my flat in Liverpool.  I'lll have to get back on the bike and hand it on to someone.   Sadly my next planned ride is this weekend, but it involves the use of a train , so isn't allowed for baton purposes !

You know what..I think I'm going to sue for breach of copyright.

They've defintiely used my Wickes DIY store Staircase-Spindles/Baton design.

Is that MattH leading the revolt?

I quite agree, it's been in Shropshire for several pages! Should've given it to Deano.  ;)

The baton has been marooned in Liverpool since it was handed over to me.  :-[   I've not done anything more than a 5 mile commute since I got back from Belgium, as my waistline will testify...

I'm on leave until January 3rd, so will try to get a ride out organised...

I may be able to transport it over the Pennines if it can be brought out to the western edge of this minor molehill.... Perhaps some of our Manchester contingent? From here there are, I believe a couple of us who can pass it on further to the South East so that the Lunnun crowd can play with it before it wends upward (? as part of LEL route scouting forays?)

I am sure the baton would like to experience Winnats and/or Edale on its travels?

From the Baton Handover Rulebook....

Photos of its travels and the handovers would be obligatory of course

Last photo I see is Luke (is that Gordy?) in Derby station

It was forced into my grasp at Gordy's summer shindig.

And from there it was pedalled all the way to Liverpool.    All my trips since have included some measure of public transport so couldn't be used for baton handover purposes.

That looks a bit like taking candy from a baby, as I believe they say in Leftpondia. :)

I reckon we should plan a forum ride from Liverpool to York at some point It's all downhill from Huddersfield, and if you play your cards right you can get 3 power stations in, and possibly even CAKE at the end.

Whereabouts are you and where could you move it to?  More specifically, could you get it closer to East Anglia?

I am near Cheadle,Staffordshire. It would need perhaps a couple of relays to get to East Anglia.
IIRC the notion was to send it south to tour that part of the country & then for it to head back up north.

There are a couple of yacf'ers not far from here who may wish to be seen with the baton ,so some handover journies may be of little distance

The last time this occurred on someotherforum the baton enjoyed a rather giddy route on the road around TheIsland.

If it could be edged eastwards I might be able to collect it (*) and get it to East Anglia.  There are quite a few members over here who would love to have a bash and then we could send it in to London.

(*) Subject to negotiations with head office.

Mr Smith & I will be heading to & from Ashbourne over the May Bank Holiday, if it's still around your parts (as they say, jogler) then. We'd like to bring it south and east for a bit.
