The real questions for me were always.  How does concrete stop him?  Seeing as concrete, like most rocky-type stuff has lots of metal in it - ok in oxidised form I *suppose*

And also plastic?  Better make sure it's *Scrupulously* uncontaminated ;)

So basically he's unified gravity with the three other forces? That said, Mary Poppins did it long before he did.

So she says (that quora answers person)

Bold bit  :-D :-D :-D

We never saw Mary Poppins angry.  I wonder if we'd like her when she's angry  :jurek:

For that matter, what's his tin hat for? Is it magic like the bicycle variety (all that flying might be dangerous). Prof X is partial to a bit of headgear wearing too.

I'm all for proper hats and think they should make a comeback. Certainly women wearing hats exert a special kind of attraction on this boy.

The tin hat is for blocking Professor X so he can't shut him down and control his brain.  That's pretty clear in the films no?

I've honestly (and evidently) not paid that much attention. I thought he was just being stylish. But yay to tinfoil hats.

I'm a bit too scared to search, but is hat porn a thing? Because I really think it ought to be. I think other items of clothing can be optional.

Hmm, just idly looked at a side link on that quora forum I was looking at before...

Can Magneto control light?

Answer

Depends on which Magneto.
Movie Magneto controls metal. It isn’t even a matter of ferromagnetism, since the Nazi coin he’s fond of moving about in First Class is non-ferrous, and as has been pointed out by others on the intertoobz, bullets are largely also non-ferrous, as they are typically made from lead. Since light is obviously not metal, movie Mags wouldn’t be able to do anything to or with it.
Ultimate Magneto seems to mostly control ferrous materials, though again his powers really seem to be control of metals, regardless of makeup. Again, this version shouldn’t be able to do jack with light.
However, 616 Magneto controls the electromagnetic force, and is also able to extend his control to all the remaining three fundamental forces, though it takes more concentration and exertion. 616 Magneto’s abilities are effectively limited only by knowledge, stamina, and mental state. So, yes, 616 Magneto can make light his b*tch, and has on many occasions. LOL

Answer - seems from this, that Movie Magneto should *not* be able to fly if he really is just a metal-thing there...  this might need further research.... (ICNBA :-) )

T-rexes ..
I saw a progarmme on tv recently that suggested T-Rex didn't have a huge, loud roar,
but something a bit more subdued.

Disappointed.  A twenty-foot tall lizard with teeth like a park fence going "Eeeep"?

I think we need a superhero whose powers are solely mediated by the weak nuclear force. Fighting the forces of evil with my massive W bosons.

Having seen the way hens behave, I think a 30-foot chicken would be enough to make anyone go wibble.

I think the X-Universe always suffers these days because most of the superheroes are a bit meh. Prof X and Magneto were great, as were Wolverine and Raven. Chap with lasers for eyes? Occasionally hairy bloke? Weatherwoman? I can't even remember their names.

Isn't one of them Carol Kirkwood?

I was going to say 'pair of massive W bosons' there but I feared I'd get metooed into a spreadsheet of shame. Superhero breasts are, of course, a sensitive subject to be carefully handled. Oh no, what have I done... I blame Mary Poppins and her damn delectable hats. She puts the thoughts into my head.

Apparently, according to the internet, the X-timeline makes no sense because they changed in a previous film. So it's not just me and Deadpool who can't work it out.

Possibly I'm jaded after the awesome bombast of the last couple of MCU movies, but it was very flat. An alien invasion which consisted of about six aliens who could only briefly be bothered to be aliens until someone looked at the CGI budget. One lead alien who looked the part (mysteriously omitted eyebrows, it's how you tell) but other than a magic space power, it wasn't clear how they'd take over the Earth when they struggled to commandeer a train. They'd never even get to the buffet car on a peak train to Swindon and parts west.

But you know, alien invasion, ultimo space powers, should be a set-up for something epic. Instead, we got some moping (didn't Jean Grey already mope her way through a previous instalment?) and really quite flat action. In other movies, they're knocking down entire city blocks and destroying the occasional planet, here they rearrange the furniture in posh NYC apartment building and call it day. Ubiquitous helicopter destruction, of course, but really that's the prawn cocktail these days, surely not a main course worthy of note? Some bashed up squad cars. Come on! That's amuse-bouche.

Honestly, it felt like a movie made a couple of decades back.

Yeah Days of Future Past effectively nullified the whole timeline of the original X-men movies.  If you haven't seen it, you should see that one (and First Class) those are the quality Nu-X-men movies (younger generation actors).  Don't bother with Apolcalypse, not much cop really.
But it does sound a bit subdued going by your review considering what the Dark Phoenix is supposed to be capable of.
If you want it more epic - definitely watch First Class or Days of Future past - Magneto is used to full effect in those.

Of course they're not as grand in scope as the final* Avengers movies but personally I actually prefer the storylines in the X-men.

Sound idea in principle, but at some point all new films will be of that genre.  I'm sure ian or someone could come up with some powerpoint slides to show exactly when.

I think it's been predicted that it will happen at the same time we all become Elvis impersonators - at that moment the two will collide in a meeting of anti-statistics and annihilate the known universe.
