The first bits of information from Russia arrived. Apparantly 3 ultra events and 1 1000km brevet are planned.
start of june a 1400 organised by the Moscow club Caravan
around the 21st of june a 1200 organised by the Cherpovec club
same weekend a 1000k BRM organised by Baltic Star St. Petersburg
start of august a 1200 by Baltic Star of which 300km are unpaved.

I would love to do one of these.

What an adventure.

At the moment I'm enquiring about the 1200 from Cherpovec. This looks the best for me timewise (reasonable time between my own 600 and the brevet) and the most doable. Today I joined the group of the Cherpovec club on Russia's facebook clone, vkontakte. I'll post more info here when I receive it.

Sure about BMB?   The official site says it won't happen in 2010 and there's no mention I could find in a quick search of randon...

AC

BMB is awaiting a volunteer to step up as organiser. This might not happen.

AFAIR, it wasn't just 'a volunteer'.  The previous organiser was looking for a buyer for the rights to hold the event.

The whole concept of 'buying the rights of an event' seems quite odd to me.

USA does have a thing for rampant capitalism, reputedly.
