Chain run and pulleys/idlers on my Hurricane
« on: 01 October, 2011, 08:38:12 pm »
Giving it a major fettle today and I notice that between the cassette and the chainring the chain passed under a pulley beneath the seat, through a squared off U shaped bracket holding the idler in place.   The chain passes to the underside of the idler and rattles along the bottom part of the U bracket.

Somehow this doesn't seem quite right to me.   Anybody got any suggestions as to whether this is in fact right, or alternative routing ideas please?.

Oh yes, pics.  Hmmm.   I'm totally shite at posting pics but if you insist I'll try tomorrow when I've taken some.   :'(   ;)

They do Biggsy thanks.

I think that I've just been having a Homer moment.

Looking at the images reveals the true picture and my chain line is as all of those.   As the rear is suspended, when I'm seated on the bike the pulley is effectively pushed down in relation to the chain and thus there will be no clatter.   I was trying to think why I'd never noticed the chain clattering over the bracket before.

D'oh!!!        ;D
