9 speed RD, 11speed shifters, 10 speed cassette.

I think I know the answer but I'll ask anyway.

My new bike currently has an XT 9 speed RD, 11 speed Chorus shifters and a 9 speed cassette.
It all works perfectly.
I have two other pairs of wheels fitted with 10 speed Shimano/SRAM cassettes. (The bike that usually uses them has a 10 speed Ultegra RD).

Could I fit a 10 speed cassette to the new bike wheel and get it to shift with the existing 9/11 RD/shifter combo ?

I know the other alternative is a 10sp Shimano RD and Shiftmate #4 but I'd rather avoid paying £lots for a new RD.

I think (based on previous reading of the CTC Shimergo page) that you'll be fine, as long as you run the cable round the wrong side of the fixing bolt on the rear mech (the Hubbub modification).

Fine if you're converting to 10 speed but a pain if you want to swap between 9 & 10 I guess.
