So today I'm heading off to the Kennet Valley Run 200, and left my flat three hours earlier than I normally would on a working dayou. Steve still beat me onto the roads...

I shall be going out for an Essex lanes potter today. I might get 50 miles in but sadly Steve & co will be well on the way to Norfolk. I shan't get as far north as Dunmow anyway.

I've just put "here" into Google Maps and, appropriately for a BRITON, it centres on Buckingham Palace.  But I'm not convinced it's raining there coz I'm only about ten miles away and it's lovely and sunny.

Warm but blustery in Essex today. Steve will have plenty of company today on the Horsepower 200. (87 entries I belive.). if he keeps coming over this way he may turn in to a real Essex boy and pimp his ride and slowly turn a shade of fake tan orange!

Steve's bounced Snetterton, but was stopped for a while in East Harling on the return - I'm betting on the chippy

I think we can safely say that TG isn't going there today :)

If he gets the record and keeps his nose clean, he might be going there in the future.

He will have been in for a real East Anglian treat today. Unbroken sunshine, a tailwind all the way to Snetterton and a headwind all the way back!

I dedicated today's 52 miles to Steve. I only hope he went twice as fast as I did.

Steve was looking in good shape when he passed the Lavenham control on The Horsepower just after 9am this morning. I'd say he was within the first dozen riders out of nearly 90, although I was a bit surprised to him riding alone at such an early stage in the event. Many riders commented on the good tailwind which saw a fair proportion of the field reaching this first control within 15 minutes of the opening time, so he will have enjoyed that.

Yes but the headwind from Snetterton was a right B. However Steve was a very early finisher at just over 8.0 hours and then went out to ride the end of the route backwards - getting huge cheers ( I am told)  from the incoming riders  ( I had chosen the valley in route rather than the B road so missed him )-- he is doing a few local loops as it was too windy to think about riding back to MK today
I was an accountant until I discovered Audax !!

Round North Yorkshire the wind dropped dramatically in the late afternoon. Hopefully he had the same!
