Just heard on the radio that doctors are now trying to bring him out of the induced coma.  Hope that goes well.
Getting there...

A customer came into the shop yesterday and he had just returned from a ski resort in the same area where Schumie was. He nearly got harassed for not wearing a helmet and body armour, he said the pressure to wear personal protection gear had gone mad since last time he was there, he looked like he goes there often.

Anywhooo hope it goes well for him.

Huh? Even here in North America-land people don't get harrassed for not wearing a helmet (and it's an awful lot more common here)  and only ones wearing body armor are the kids on High Level park jumps.

The mayor of Meribel, the Prefect, the police and everyone else who might be remotely concerned in Schumie's mishap are engaging in advanced CYA contortions. Insisting on white harness and blunted weapons for every potential future litigant is part of it.

Mainstream media has been largely silent for weeks now.

I didn't watch every minute of coverage, but it didn't seem like the BBC or Australian TV wanted to make much mention of it during the excitement of the opening 2014 race weekend.

Nice to see that the teams did pay a few small tributes:

As I read reports yesterday, Mr L, he's been discharged from the special care unit because they can do nothing more for him. He wasn't described as 'conscious', and they were very downbeat at his prospects for further recovery.

Edit: I saw that he was 'out of danger', I think maybe on Friday? The article stressed that that did not mean he was recovering mentally, simply that his physical injuries were sufficiently recovered that he could be taken off life support. I see today (since reading your post) the reports are a little more positive.

From teh Telegraph: "The magazine said the driver was "out of danger" but said his chances of making a full recovery appeared to have diminished. It also reported that preparations for Schumacher's transfer to a specialised rehabilitation clinic were under way at the Grenoble hospital. "
