Author Topic: Spinup front 'spoke' dynamo arrives but is for power bank and expensive  (Read 1559 times)

The Spinup front 'spoke' dynamo has arrived but seems to bemainly intended as  a rechargable powerbank system...

It is 6V DC but I can find  no mention of Stzvo for the generator:

I had hoped might suit folders...

I would  guess destined to early failure...
Gearing in  the 'can' and it's  only rated to 70KPH
bet its is draggy as well

it doesn't say what wheels the 70kph limit applies to, but 70kph on 27" wheels is about the same generator speed as doing 41.5kph on a 16" wheel.

cheers

The impression I get is that it's a Sunup Eco reshaped for a front hub and with a dynamo to USB bit stuck on the output.

IF it uses sunup internals it will be neither draggy or inefficient.

I have had a Sunup Eco on my commuter for probably approaching a decade and it has been totally reliable and to intents and purposes undetectable.

It's the same company, or at least the company address is the same

You can feel free to charge your iPhone or GoPro directly.

Due to changing riding conditions and charging protections of various USB devices, direct charging with USB devices is not recommended.

Did they even read their own marketing guff?

I'm trying to get my head around the graphs. My understanding is that the second graph is showing us that when the battery is dead, below 15km/h there is an automatic supply of power from the battery to the USB charging system. Somewhat defies physics.
