Bought my first ever bike jewellery, a pair of A2Z blue anodised titanium skewers.

Because I could. So there!

I just ordered a Groundeffect Two Timer top, and some Lucifer socks.  I'm getting ready for the cooler weather already. ;D

Their website denied all knowledge of my email address, which was quite impressive considering I got an email from them this morning. :-\

Ho hum, easy enough to re-register, and at least it wasn't one of those occasions when it wouldn't let you reuse an email address, but still insisted that you weren't registered using that email address.
Actually, it is rocket science.

On Saturday at the local boot sale I bought two second hand rear racks and an unused wheel with a Shimano hub and unbranded rim. Total cost £2

Two M5x45 machine screws.  Hopefully, I have a chance of getting the tandem's front rack fitted now!

Buying nuts'n'bolts from LBSs is pretty painful in the wallet area, but is a useful capability when the need arises.

How many?
Last year in late autumn I bought a supply of parts that I thought should get me a year ahead. I was wrong on the chains. I bought 6 but I used another 6...
So now I'm making a list of parts to buy and wonder how many chains I should buy, 6, 9 or 12...
Maybe I can make another chain from all the leftovers soon.
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. It has been too many days since I have ridden through the night with a brevet card in my pocket...

Just three.  It needs about two and a half, with my short legs.

There's no significant wear on my other bikes' chains atm (well, the one I put on the tandem is slightly worn, but it's not going to do much mileage anytime soon), so in the absence of a stonkingly good deal I'm not stocking up.

New shorts and a new top, both from Ground Effect. Do they still dispatch from a UK address or are they back to shipping from NZ ?

Today I have been mostly upgrading my Bagman - just placed an order with Carradice for a QR clamp, and another order with SJS for a couple of these rear light brackets to fit on the back.

5 Campagnolo pawl springs.

I've broken 3 in the last 5 years, including at 3:00 am on a Sunday morning between Beddgelert and Penrhyndaedraeth* and most recently somewhere near Manningtree at 11:00 pm**, so these should last me.

*resulted in the hub freewheeling in both directions
** resulted in converting the freewheel to fixed

Just placed an order for two of those lights from Hong Kong.

They arrived today and I've just been outside in the dark to see how bright they are. Crikey! They're good. Especially for the price. The beam of the front light is very tightly focused - should provide a nice complement to the relatively wide-angle beam of my Solidlights for the really dark bits.

My brother-in-law was looking for some lights for MTBing the other day. Think I'll recommend these to him.

Bought a 12-23 cassette as a backup to my 13-26 standard one, in case I get roped into a tear-up.  I'm using 48/34 rings, so not hugely overgeared with 108. :D

Next purchase will be a 5-litre jug of Muc-Off.

BTW, I now have 4 Hong Kong torches for house torches.  Still don't know how they price them that low. :o

One of these

Mountain Bikes | MTB | Road Bikes | Bike Frames | All Terrain Cycles

for the recumbent & one of these

Carradice of Nelson - bike bags, saddle bags and waterproof panniers

to accommodate all that might be necessary on night rides & winter audax rides.

Haven't fettled them onto the bikes 'cause I'm sitting on top of the phone in the lounge waiting for a call (no mobile reception in the garage)

A pair of Karrimor running longs from Sports Direct for £5.
Will be ideal for cold mornings, under my Endura 3/4's.

For £5 definitely worth a punt  ;)

First time I'd ever been in a Sports Direct store, crikey its Chav-tastic !

upgrading my Bagman - just placed an order with Carradice for a QR clamp

Arrived today. I'd assumed the QR was to release the whole Bagman assembly from the bike but now discover it's to remove the bag from the rack, so you can easily use different bags with the same rack. Ingenious.

One puzzlement - there are holes to take grub screws to secure the frame to the clamp, but no actual screws. Is this an oversight or am I expected to re-use the screws from the non-QR clamp?

And while I'm here - today's cycling purchase: a h*lm&t!  :o
