thought I might try to steal a march on the hoardes, so went to Aldi for 18:30. Nothing, spoke to the woman and she said they get into a lot of trouble now if they put stuff out the night before and sell any, so it gets done after closing time or first thing in the morning....

GAH! Oh well guess I will be late into the office tomorrow....

A B&M Cyo hub dynamo light and bracket from SJS, and two sets of mudguards (plus chat, laughs and wisdom) from the wonderful Henry Burton in Stafford. I'm getting geared up for the winter already.  :-\

As worn by Greg Lemond.  I'd check it's not, er, shop-soiled.

Some Aldi kit.  The vultures had clearly descended long before I got there after work, as there was very little left.  The ladies long sleeve jersey is a bit snug, but just about fits.  A base layer of some sort would seem wise, however, as it is 'interestingly' see-through...

Aldi, too.  Shoes, lurid waterproof, arm warmers and "merino" top for the price of a pair of shoes, or a lurid waterproof, or a "merino" top anywhere else.

There were no arm warmers at all, only teeny tiny lurid waterproofs and about half a dozen pairs of shoes left in ours.  And gloves in XL or M, but no L or S (I was hoping that the smallest ones might fit the boy, but the M are comfortably big on me and I have some from last year that have hardly been worn, as it isn't often cold enough for them).

Various Aldi stuff.  Sounds like I was lucky as managed to get everything I was after, except they only had white & grey socks in my size so bought them anyway.  Oh and I would have tried a merino jersey but none of those left in my size - probably just as well since wool makes me itch.

While I was there I picked up a pack of 300 assorted cable ties - will probably never have to buy a cable tie again.  ;D

Like voting, "shop early, shop often" is the way to do Aldi and Lidl special buys  ;)

Twelve inner tubes in BikePlus, under their three for £10 offer.

Only six for me, in two different size.  The other six are for one of my work colleagues, who really needs to find a better tyre given his rate of inner tube use. :-\

The ones I've just bought myself would last me years, but will probably be used up in a few months with FNRttCs and similar.

They probably wondered why I brought the trailer to pick that lot up, but BikePlus is only a stones throw from the cattery where Talisker will be spending this weekend, whilst I'm away on the YACF Camp at Andover.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Got an Aldi Merino top in medium, is a tad big but it's mostly for when I'm layering up in winter so it can be one of the last layers to go on.

Is a bit itchier than my Endura BaaBaa baselayer but not too bad.

Replacement freewheel pawls* (part no FH-RE113, if you're interested). The email telling me they had been dispatched arrived 3 minutes after the postman knocked on the door with the package.

*Soon to appear in the 'What have you fettled today?' thread.

Don't worry. I'm going to keep a spare FH-RE113 or two in my saddlebag from now on. And four (yes four) FH-RE114s.

Bought a nice shiny new 2011 Trek 7.5 fx in gloss black with midnight blue insets.  I'm determined to take this cycling more seriously now I don't have to work.

Yesterday I bought some Swissstop Blue brake blocks for the tandem, from Mr. thorn's establishment in Bridgwater. The current set has lasted about 5000 miles.
