Well, that's good news, but I am disturbed about how you might know that.  You read the Telegraph?  I hope you thoroughly disinfect afterwards.

I read all the papers. It's the only way you can get a balanced view on what's being reported. I don't see the point of reading only one paper that you generally agree with. You just get blinkered PAOBI opinions  ;)

Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

The Guardian Bike Blog has an article about Gary Kemp, who is apparently a keen cyclist, but the author seems pretty ignorant of other velocipedal musicians.

The gaping David-Byrne-shaped hole is quickly plugged in the Comments, and the usual suspects Age of Chance and Carter USM/Abdoujaparov are mentioned.  Did The Style Council ever actually ride bikes, or was it just a pose?

ISTR Bryan Ferry was pretty handy on both two and three wheels in his youth.

And, though a DJ rather than a pop star, Jimmy Saville even competed in the Milk Race.

Any others?

Disclaimer:  We've probably discussed this before[/url]

(Anorak mode) - Jimmy "the Duke" Saville actually rode in the Tour of Britain - Milk Race arrived much later.

Anyone mentioned Mick Fleetwood - also pusher off once in a Merseyside time trial

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden (and Bruce Dickinson and the 6 Music rock show, novelist and filmwriter) has been known to do a little bit of cycling, among many other things.

Perhaps we should clarify the rules; ".... not just people who CAN ride a bike."

That disgraceful Brian Ferry used to hang around with the Houghton CC. Even donated a gold album to the club.

I've just read an interview with Rheinallt ap Gwynedd (bass player for Apollo 440 and Natalie Imbruglia, and brother of Peredur from Pendulum), who said his ideal house would have a garage big enough to hold a stack of expensive bikes; and if he wasn't a musician, he'd have liked to have been a pro racer.

No one mentioned David Byrne.

He has taken his bicycle with him where ever he has preformed around the world. And not just in the last 2 years "fab" where everyone "famous" have to be seen on a bicycle.

As revealed on Loose Ends last night (along with his curmudgeonly scepticism of the Big Bang), Ginger Baker was apparently a promising cyclist in his youth.

Thinking on this, that makes at least two thirds of Cream who rode - no idea about Jack Bruce, and the Interweb seems to offer no clues.  But that might explain the title 'Disraeli Gears'.

Former Pink Fairies guitarist / Hawkwind bassist Paul Rudolph had a racing licence and IIRC now runs a bike shop in Vancouver.
