It sounds like the first line of a song:

The teenage boys are loud and lairy...

I saw three riders in shorts yesterday!

Do these people have no concept of temperature? It was sunnier than it has been for a while, but the outside temperature when I left the house was 4 degrees C.

In a similar vein, I heard the first ice cream van of the year, earlier this week.

I've had a male blackbird in the garden all winter. Very well fed he has been too. He is a feisty fellow and chases off a youngster, a couple of starlings - who give as good as they get, a robin or two and has even had a go at a timid wood pigeon.

Anyway, just lately a female has appeared on the scene and they seem to be getting on well, so hopefully there'll be a nest nearby. The privet hedge I planted four years ago is quite a way from being bushy enough, but there are ample other local spots.

Sign of spring.
First time this year with no lights on both legs of commute.
And first evening ride sans jacket.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

My cotoneaster is sprouting leaves, so I'm looking forward to an influx of bumble bees once the flowers are out.

Honey bees are also partial to cotoneaster. When I kept bees, a lovely way to spend half an hour on a warm evening was to watch the bees working the cotoneaster.

That's what I do Wow. The bush is right next to a garden bench and I have my morning coffee and watch the bees flit from floret to floret. It always makes me feel rather unindustrious.

Dunno its name, but a bush that flowers before leafing is getting started. Bright yellow flowers for a few days. :)

It's a bush that goes on and on.

Frogs & toads crossing the obvious, on our ride last night. Some quick, & some dead.

Crocuses in the garden, as well as snow drops.

The cherry tree is in bud.

Blackbirds carrying nesting material.

It is light when I get the train home, winter must have ended! :)

Swans on the pond across from the office engaging in courtship rituals.  They don't seem fussed about me taking lots of pics of them, though.  They still wait till my back is turned before they take off, as does the elusive little egret which I have trying to get a decent pic of for the last few months.
