Routing request - Getting out of London heading for Saffron Walden

Evening all.

Mini-hatler is trying to get from SW London to Saffron Walden on Sunday morning, departing about 9am.

He's happy in traffic but not bonkers dual carriageways.

Has anyone got a suggested route that would help guide him please ?   If you have a gpx route prepared that would be wonderful.

How quickly? A leisurely route would be to follow the Thames to Tower Hill, then Cable St (CS something-or-other) to Limehouse. Then the towpath will take you most of the way up R Lee to Royden or Stansted Abbots. The roads from there are much used by Audaxes and fairly friendly through the Haddens, Clavering, under the M11 and into Saffron Walden.

He's after an 'efficient' route, so mot too much meandering (if any). Principal objective is to exit London as quickly and as pleasurably as possible.

Ideally from Wandsworth to the City, then head out to Waltham Abbey / Cheshunt.

I'd follow the Dun Run route to Epping and then the B181 to Stanstead Abbots, then Much Hadham, Little Hadham, Clavering, Wendens Ambo & Saffron Walden.

As a simpler, and in my view better route having lived around the Essex/Herts border for quite a while, is to follow the Dun Run to Great Dunmow and then the road to Thaxted and Saffron Walden.   That said about 6 weeks ago I rode from Chingford to Rickling Green (just SW of Saffron Walden) on the route Wow suggests - I have a .gpx for that too.
