I intend to meet OD (in his new traffic cone outfit) en route to rendezvous with Oaky at slightly later than is customary at the J&J, let's say 19:40?  I did offer to wear ear defenders as protection against the brightness of new traffic cone outfit but apparently very dark glasses of the welding goggle variety are more in order   8)

That will probabaly mean a 21:00ish arrival at The White Hart, but you may be able to see us coming from a fair distance away!!
JohnT if you're there much before us you can start the sampling and let us know a good place to start  ;D

EDIT:  I've just noticed that it's a full moon out there with clear sky, so what with new traffic cone outfit and the moon then front lights will not be required for the return to the hamlet of Witham

This development is not an excuse to begin taking the pi55 I'll have you know.  Hi-vis at night is safer innit?

I've just arrived at the White Hart with Wow, Mrs Wow, Woolly and Peli. JohnT was already here.

Then Oscar's Dad, Huggy, Oaky and Tomsk turned up.

A very amusing evening during which OD dropped his trousers to show Peli his tattooed buttock. There was a beer festival on, which meant that we had to sample a number of brews. Woolly, Peli and I rode back and arrived home around 1.30, after a total of 26 miles. A lovely night with a full moon. There were foxes.

I started having gear trouble, finding it difficult to change, but when I got home I disconnected the cables from the hub and found that the difficulty lay in the twist grip. I suspect that I need to change the cables. I've still got the originals on and they've done 19000 miles. I might change the brake cables as well while I'm at it. That's a job for the morning.

A smashing evening and it was lovely to meet new people.  I fell off into the verge on the way home (no idea why) and we all stopped for a wee into the ford at Terling, which is becoming something of a tradition.  Just after Terling a ghostly white owl flew low beside the road.

Got into bed at 2am having hit my annual mileage target.  Many thanks to everyone that turned up  :-*

He shows everybody his tattooed buttock but he never tells anyone what the other one is called!  ::-)

On reflection i have decided I didn't fall off, I gracefully subsided into the grass verge. However I did manage to get mud on the top of my Magic Hat!

Yes, what a good night that was. Always good to meet new forumites, but glad we were in a cosy alcove out of sight of normal people when the tattoo was introduced :o

Picked a few nice stretches of lane for moonlit riding along the way. Also good to join the jollity of a post pub ride with the gang, instead of heading back to Dunmow the most direct way. This, plus my 30 miles to the White Hart, made 52 in total, a MEMWNS record for me

I think that could be an outright record!

Code: [Select]
sqlite> select count(*),max(distance) from times where routeid in (select rowid from routes where name like 'yacf mid-%');
count(*)                          max(distance)
--------------------------------  -------------
55                                41.48

Certainly beats me by 10.5 miles.  Maybe wowbagger has a longer one?

My recollection was that I notched up a century ride involving MEMWNR some time in May last year. I've checked and I think it was on 23rd April which appears to have been a Friday. I recall riding from home to Young's End where I met AH, we then rode to Little Totham for lunch, back to Young's End where Tokamak was in attendance, we decided that the food / beer combination was inferior so adjourned to the Square & Compasses and finished the evening at the Compasses, Littley Green whence I rode home. On the technicality that this was a Friday it may fall outside the rules.

http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=12973.msg604568#msg604568 refers.

Edit: Goldhanger, 28/10/2009 involved 56.63 miles for me, and that was a Wednesday. There may be others.

The extra loop with Bobb, OD & myself before collecting Oaky on the way to The Elms a couple of weeks ago helped notch up 49.19 miles for me & OD will have had something similar, Bobb maybe a little more.

This is my route for that night  :smug:

Not quite matching Tomsk for this week, but I didn't realise we were going to get in to comparing lengths  ;)
