Title: cadence sensor for Etrex 30
Post by: baffle on 19 March, 2017, 10:39:34 am
Hello folks.  First post here from a 52yo bike commuter and longer rides at the weekender. I have had an etrex 30 for several years, and get on well with it. I use it for work and walking as well as for cycling. I wanted to add a cadence sensor to add an element to my weekend rides,  and just bought the current Garmin Cadence Sensor only to find it is not compatible although the Etrex 30 is ANT+, like the sensor,so I am confused. I understand the discontinued WSC10 sensor was compatible,  but there are also other options,  and I wondered if anyone can recommend another compact cadence sensor I could use? Thanks. I have also played this on bikeforum.net, but this place looks a better bet!

It will only work with an Ant+ combined speed/cadence sensor. It won't work with a cadence only sensor.

The Ant directory should list most of the options: https://www.thisisant.com/directory/filter/~/69/~/99/
Though yes, it seems a few are discontinued now.

This Bontrager Interchange Combo sensor looks quite neat. http://www.jejamescycles.com/bontrager-computer-part-interchange-ant-btle-combo-sensor-tyl3891.html

And to add insult to injury, it won't make any use of the speed data.

All seems a bit daft.
