Try this:
1 - Go to Wikipedia and hit random article. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to The Quotations Page - Your Source for Famous Quotes (http://www.Quotationspage.com) and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to Flickr.com and click on "explore the last seven days". Third picture no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Hmm ... I'm actually working on an album at the moment (well, more of a long-form ambient jam). I'm not going to do the photoshop malarkey just yet, but we have:
Band Name: Natural World Book Prize
Title: Excuses, excuses, excuses
This piccy: Untitled | Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/appletraffic/5354373426/)
Scary thing is, for the sort of stuff I'm performing, that combo might actually work :o
EDIT: "Casimir The Usurper" would be a pretty epic name for a death metal band though.

Interzen: your music may well fall into that category!

I like the picture, actually.
I normally do my ambient stuff under the moniker "Clear Air Turbulence" so your title is quite appropriate too. I don't often do majorly beat-oriented stuff, but I might have to blag dibs on "Digital Supply Chain" ;D
I'll see if I can put a couple of mockups together.

Definitely prog-rock inna Tales Of Topographic Oceans stylee with an album name like that. There is precedent for prog-ish bands with silly names (eg. Porcupine Tree) but Parnassus on Wheels is a good 'un.
In fact, as an addendum to The Game, might I suggest that posters suggest a suitable *genre* for 'their' album (eg. the first couple in the thread would be good for, say, ambient music) as well?

Ideally, all participants should describe the genre of music contained on their album.

I'd recommend The GIMP, although be warned that it can have quite a steep learning curve - not as bad as PhotoShop, but still takes a while to get the hang of.
For Mac users, you've got GIMP, as above, but there's also "Seashore", which is basically a simplified GIMP (it's derived from the same code base)

Seashore (http://seashore.sourceforge.net/The_Seashore_Project/About.html)

That's so good! Obviously it's semi acoustic fey post- punk experimental sounds by a ridiculously young and attractive girl who refuses to use her name or photo as it's all about The Work. Tracks include the title track, 3 caraway seeds, and her epic ode to winter- under the ice I rest. There are no capital letters or punctuation marks in the sleeve notes.

They do epic rock which is sub-Coldplay or U2. But the last track is ten minutes of unlistenable noise, to prove that they don't want to be the next U2 or Coldplay, and they're in it for the music, man.

Or one of a heavier variety :)
This brings to mind something that might be a cross between Dream Theater and Opeth, actually ... sort of ultra-heavy prog-rock with strong Rush influences, and all five members of the band are insanely talented. They'd never chart in a month of Sundays and have a small, but insanely loyal, fanbase.
The title sounds more like the sort of thing that Iain M. Banks would use for one of his novels.
-
(http://www.peeble.com/mcivor.jpg)
Henry McIvor fancies himself as an authentic bluesman in the style of Dr. John. However, all his songs start with "When I woke up this mornin'" and he has to get a session guy in to play harmonica. He only knows five chords.
-
He only knows five chords.
Five? That's two more than most bands.
-
And four more than me :)
But then again, I am a bass guitarist1 ...
1 - I actually do a lot of chordal stuff on the bass, but generally with different fingerings to a 'normal' guitar to stop them sounding too muddy.

Arthur is a regular at all of Shadwell's indie open-mic nights. His primary instrument is ukulele, but he doubles on melodeon. He wears a purple beret at all times.
He considers his lack of recognition indicative of quite how far ahead of the curve he is. Besides which, who needs commercial success when one has a perfectly good trust fund?

Warm Springs - They Lose Their Common Sense
Cover (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mansellphotos/5345983639/)
Definitely the side project of a member of a death metal band, most likely the drummer or bassist. The album consists of two long-form (untitled) ambient pieces, in stark contrast to the material the artist is more generally known for and associated with.
Anyone buying the record would get a shock if they decided to check out the material of the original group (probably called 'deathmetalhammerslayerfistwarrior' or something) whereas the mere existence of this record is deeply divisive to the band's 'original' fans.
(this has actually happened - Mick Harris of Napalm Death is now doing dark-ambient/DJ stuff)

This is clearly a band from the new wave of Chinese bands trying to assert a kind of nonchalant western punk attitude, but there's something really not quite right about them. Somehow despite all the ingredients being there, it's almost entirely crap.

KUSP were the band every MP claimed to like when they wanted to look hip. Eventually, this meant that it became truly trendy to say you hated them. In fact, they weren't bad, but they never got over the experience of being on Anne Widdicome's desert island selection.

Interesting one, that ... I was tempted to say that it'd be a dark ambient album *but* no.
I'm thinking that Louisa Island is a singer/songwriter/pianist inna sub-Tori Amos stylee, singing largely semi-autobiographical material but maybe with the odd left-field cover version thrown in (eg. a piano version of Slayer's "Angel of Death"). She *tries* to be like Tori Amos et.al. but isn't quite as talented. Or as good looking1
