Women's clothing - when did it get so expensive?
« on: 05 May, 2009, 11:23:15 am »
All my cycle trousers and 3/4s have worn patches or bust zuppers, so I thought I'd treat myself to some new ones. The LBS didn't have much of a range, so I went online. I've been looking at Minx-Girl and Edinburgh cycle co-operative, and was thinking "forty or fifty quid for some three-quarters? A bit pricy, but they look OK. Oh, hang on - no padding?!"

It turns out that if I want padded 3/4s or tights, I have to spend around eighty quid!  :o I'm sure they didn't use to be this expensive!  >:(

I was looking at (amongst others) Corriene Dennis stuff, which is made in the UK!

Corrinne Dennis stuff just is really expensive, even in the sale.

I've just got some Pearl Izumi Sugar Knickers 3/4s from Wiggle for just over £40.

The garments MAY be sewn together in UK but where do the fabrics come from? I can't find a definitive statement on their site.  I have looked before as I was prepared to pay a small premium to support 'home' industry.

Not cycling specific, but Mrs eck has good things to say about http://www.beoutdoors.co.uk/ for women's stuff.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.
