I think it's still worth meeting up near the fire station since it's fairly central and easy to loiter in the sun there.

Looks like me, huggy and bloomers from Witham with OD and Tomsk joining at the Compasses.

I'll drop chief a line to see if he's around.

We'll probably meet Chief going the wrong way but surely he can't get lost going to The Compasses  ;D

Bloomers,
Are you okay finding your way to the fire station or would you like to meet at the Spa Road/Powers Hall lane roundabout (if you're approaching from Terling again)?

BTW - unless anyone objects, I'm still of a mind to head to the Compasses via a shortish route, not quite the shortest, but fairly close, in order to give us a bit of sitting outside in the sun time...

Something like this, in fact...

Lovely. Keen for some adult company ( I don't mean x rated I mean I've been herding the kids for two days).

Aaaargh!  I just found out it's mrs_o's turn for the Brownies pickup tonight, so I won't be able to leave the house before about 7:40 ish...

Huggy - either you could set off with bloomers and I'll catch you up, or you could lead him round to mine (will involve back-tracking past the fire station when we do set off) or you could just hang around in the sun outside the fire station.

Not sure of my possible departure time at the moment - the world of work has reverted to a stinking pile of smelly stuff similar to the manure heap that OD declined playing in last week, even though it would probably have cleaned his bike of the crap he led us through  ::-)
All I can say at the moment is that I might be able to use the direct route to The Compasses and see you there later, maybe riding over with OD.

I've texted what I believe to be bloomers' number letting him know my delayed departure time and giving him directions to mine... let me know if you set off before about 7:45

That was fun:  a blast over form Witham with bloomers at a spit under 17mph, followed by several of the Mighty Oak Wana Hokalugi* (not it's real name ;)) and a cheeky half of the Mungo Mild.  We were even able to sit outside for a while.

First proper outing for my new Day 01 disc, so I felt compelled to photograph it outside the MEMWNS HQ:-

Apologies for the colour balance - it was thrown completely out by OD's radioactive Altura.

Earlier in the week I was catching up with an ex-colleague on the phone.  She asked if I was still cycling.  I confirmed I was and told her this year I had done some long distance stuff but at the moment was mostly riding to the pub and talking bollocks with my mates once I got there.  Last night was no exception.

I made the mistake (can't remember why) of asking Oaky what a venn diagram was.  He immediately borrowed bloomers specs and lapsed into Open University (are they still on the telly at 3am?) lecturer mode :

He then remembered OU lecturers have comb overs (hand represents comb over):

With the help of beer mats he then explained venn diagrams:

Later we had pickled eggs.  Cheers!

Oaky's new bike is indeed very nice   Good job that bloke didn't reverse his Skoda into it.  That wouldn't of been very funny at all  ;D

Shiny new bikes and pickled eggs. Sounds like the perfect evening.
If you're still going to the 3 Elms next week (forward planning permitting) I will bike up from that London and meet you there.

Obviously there's no forward planning going on, so I can't confirm that I'll be going to The Three Elms next week. I am, however, not denying that I'll be there :) ;)

As we're all getting so adept at forward planning, even the most unlikely characters are at it, might I bring Friday 5th July (post#592) to your attention?

I thank you.

That's like almost a month away. I don't plan some of my holidays that far in advance. Wierdo.

I needed cheering up.  Forward planning makes me happy.  I know.  Weird.  But I don't care

Old Git-friendly link with no need of pesky numbers

EDIT: huggy was 27s quicker.  Is there a Strava segment for this or something?
